A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I remember one of the Honda 500 GP bikes hitting 200mph at Hockenheim. Early 90's, I think.

    Rabacanda Street Bike Tire Changer

I'm too old for that!! :) The Rabaconda's expensive, but I figure it'll pay for itself pretty quickly just on regular changes. Plus it makes swapping tires around to get all the use out of them more feasible.

    Rabacanda Street Bike Tire Changer

Greg, wanted to say thanks for posting that video. I just bought a Rabaconda and changed my first tire with it. The rear on the Tracer, Road Smart IV. Went really smoothly, your video definitely helped!

    Front Fork Springs

Probably 1.0s, but it depends a bit on your weight and the kind of riding you do.

    Front Fork Springs

You definitely need to raise the front end, right now the sliders are slaming into the lower triples every time you brake hard or go over a big bump. Very bad. Straight rate springs will be better than progressively wound ones. Sonic Springs as mentioned (I'm the former owner) or Race-Tech can...

    Who owns a Triumph Daytona?

Congrats!! Very nice bike from all the tests and reports I remember reading when they were new. Hope you enjoy it.

    Who owns a Triumph Daytona?

Not me, or were you thinking of a different "Rich"? There were also the earlier Daytonas, based on the the first 900 and 1200 engines. Trevor, which series were you thinking of?

GS500 the best underrated budget option for Scrambler?

Probably as good a choice as any. They're cheap, common, lightweight and simple. And absolutely no one will care if you cut one up. :)

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Have you ridden one? I test rode a Zero, it was a hoot. Different than a regular bike, for sure, but still a lot of fun.

Installed Progressive front springs on a 1980 450S? How big of a spacer did you need?

Keep in mind that you will most likely want to have the new total spring/spacer length a touch shorter than the stock setup. The stock springs are very soft, and Suzuki compensated for that (sort of) by using a lot of preload. With the new, better, springs you'll need less preload, which means...

Specific Japanese motorcycle manufacturer's proprietary rim and matching tires.

Fair enough. But those bricks were real, this tire issue you've conjured up doesn't exist.

    17 Tooth 530 Front Sprocket

Check post #1. :) On the 17 vs 18 wear rates, while I agree with you in theory, I wouldn't be too concerned about it in the real world. Lots of modern liter bikes with vastly more HP than a GS have 16 or even 15 tooth countershaft sprockets. And with modern chains often get over 20k miles.

Specific Japanese motorcycle manufacturer's proprietary rim and matching tires.

On the 16" front tires, many Japanese sport or sporty bikes had them from 1983 through the early '90s. Honda Interceptors, the 700 Nighthawk, Suzuki 750/700 E and ES models, various Kawasaki Ninjas and EXs, Yamaha RZ500...etc. But you are of course completely right on the fact that putting a...

Specific Japanese motorcycle manufacturer's proprietary rim and matching tires.

In the 35 years I've been on the internet, and god knows how many thousands of hours wasted on motorcycle BBS's/email lists/forums/social media etc... I've never heard anything remotely like this. If I were you I'd forget about it and quit worrying.
