A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Bike about died in rain......

I agree with everyone who put it on the high voltage side of the ignition. I had a Guzzi 850 Eldorado, It had a Bosch charging system with a belt driven generator on the top of the motor, and it had an automotive type distributor on the top upper side of the crank case out in the weather. It...

    Honda CB700SC Nighthawk for sale

The 650SC looked like they stared at a Triumpx X75 pretty hard while designing it. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/album.php?albumid=703&attachmentid=26580 Here is my old X-75. Alas, I sold it when I had a broken back and a pregnant wife.

Curious. What would you be willing to pay?

I don't think that they are much smaller than your Kawasaki 550. I practically needed a ladder to mount myself on that ATK.

    Honda CB700SC Nighthawk for sale

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/mcy/d/cb700sc-nighthawk/6680656224.html There are few to no survivors of these bikes that I see, anyway, including the 650. With shaft and hydraulic valves, routine maintenance was designed to be minimal. They were reasonably quick. 16" front wheel was...

    1980/81 GS850/GS1000G forks on 1982 GS1100G

Thanks. I thought so too, but there be experts here in these parts!

    AFM Racing?

I went to lots of them in the 80s. Riverside and Willow Springs. I enjoyed seeing the final race of the season (and maybe the very last) at Riverside where Fred Eiker win the heavyweight twins race in 1987. It was mostly Ducatis and Guzzis, but Fred's 1974 Norton won the race and the...

    1980/81 GS850/GS1000G forks on 1982 GS1100G

My brother is having a problem with the forks on hit '82 1100G. I have a spare set of good forks for an 1979 to 1981 GS850/GS1000G forks that are not being used now. I bought a good used set and had Racetech rebuild them and install gold valves and springs because I didn't want to have the...

Curious. What would you be willing to pay?

Personally, a 450T isn't on my radar. I was very fond of the 450S when they were new, and if the right one of those crossed my path, and I had the money lying around, I might buy it for my girl friend. I have a modified RD400, but it is kind of wheelie prone. It also has a short range. I...

    SoCal: carb rebuild services needed

Down the street from Ray is the best Chile Verde I've ever had. If I recall, Ray likes Newcastle Ale. Chef did an amazing job on a set of carbs for me. So good that they did not need to be touched when I bolted them on and hooked up the synch tool. I don't normally have much trouble with...

    '81 GS1000G returning owner.....

Personally, I find that a 1000G suits me very well. The 1981 has running lights, so is a bit safer maybe, than the 1980. Congrats on getting yours back. I'm curious though, does yours have a chrome front fender and horizontal stripes on the tank? In the US we got a painted fender, and thin...

    79 GS750 wiring no battery

I agree on the tire size comments, and the tires themselves. BT45s have really nice traction and feel. Keeping as close as possible to the standard sizes will make the handling more neutral in a turn. Get too big of a tire on the back, and you will have to hold a little opposite lock on the...

    Gs1100es

That was the first bike a major magazine made it into the 10 second bracket. Honda's 1100 V4 may have been bore powerful, but the 1100ES got into the 10s first. Milestone bike.

How do you know where to set the height visually? I haven't personally had a problem after using my Motion Pro tool for float setting, but I'm open to doing it some other way.

    Buying parts at the dealer

A decade or so ago, I broke a clutch cable on the way back from Donut Derilicts. Stopped off at Southland Suzuki. My brother had an X6 from there. Two of his friends bought 500 Titans there (one might have been a 500 Cobra). That dealer has been there as long as I can remember. I stopped...

    1100g d port head on 1000

Of the three GS1000G I own, one has a 1983 1100G engine. I didn't know this until I bought a new starter clutch for it, and it didn't fit. I just figured that a PO had painted the engine black. It is noticeably peppier than my other 1000Gs, and peppier than the 1982 1100G I gave to my...
