A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

EBay 1981 Kawasaki GPz1100 Local Pick up Machesney Park, Illinois

I just looked at the parts book on '83 Specter to look at the valve adjustment. It is shim over bucket on that one. Is the entire family shim over bucket? I have always thought valve adjustment was a cam removal job on those. Is it easy like a Suzuki?

    Oil Sight Glass

Thanks. I honestly didn't expect a thoughtful and useful response. I thought I was just asking a silly question.

Let's don't forget our once a month battery charge and startup?

I leave mine for extended periods sometimes. I prefer to use the method in the manual (drain the float bowls). I like to have a full tank of non ethanol fuel, which in Oregon is easy. There are two stations with non ethanol premium within two miles. I drain the float bowls. On one of the...

    Oil Sight Glass

Would I need to drain my oil to install that?

Back in the classic saddle baby

Funny to think that an ST1100 is already 20 years old now. If you are looking to sell the 1000G, my 23 year old nephew fell in love with mine, and is looking for one. Great looking 1100ES.

    Thanks for the interesting link

    GS1000 Exhaust

Just what he said. The mas has worked for Yoshimura and does restore race bikes for a living though. I can't vouch.

    GS1000 Exhaust

The place is only 10 miles from where I am right now. The owner seems like a nice guy. I was over at The Frame Shop in Stanton changing some fastners on my 1000G. He came out of the building, leaving, and stopped to tell me that he had the Wes Cooley version. I said something to the effect...

Self cancelling turn signal issues solved!!! Well maybe???

I ended up having to buy a new controller for my '81. It wasn't cheap. I got burned on a used one from E-Bay. My Yamahas with self cancelling allow you to push the center to stop the blinking. You don't have to. The canceler on my '76 RD400 isn't working. I've got a spare in my luggage...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc-dB4DB7dg Pretty well done for its time. Spencer, Cooley, Lawson, Aldana Lots of talent.

    Suzuki 2-stroke values?

GT750 was a lot slower than an H2, not a tic slower. It is a real bike though, and for me, the H2 isn't. 20 mpg and a 4.5 gallon won't reliably get you from town to town. That kind of limitation can't be over come with speed. In 1974, Cycle World didn't even get their test H2 into the 12s...

    Buell ST3 with luggage

Recently, a Buell ST3 with luggage caught my eye. This was a fuel injected Sportster based engine in a tube frame. I've always been interested in them, but a Sportster based engine, while I'm sure its torquey and the claimed 101 hp will be enough for me, I'm concerned about longevity and parts...

Goldwing? What are the usual suspects to watch out for ???

I bought a '79, as I recall, 1000. It had Comstars. I bought it from a high school auto shop teacher. It had been a project bike there. New belts, everything worked. New tires. It wasn't fun to ride though. It didn't handle all that well. Overall, a GS is much better, and way easier to...

1981 GS450L Wiring - Any pictures of stock?

The Factory Manual would have saved me some time when I replaced the harness on a 1000G. I had the manual, but I didn't know that stuff was in there.

So what kind of old cars are you messing with? Just curious. I've got a couple MK II Cortina GTs, a '67 and a '68. Love them.

The bike stays in drive when i pull the clutch in. 1981 1000G

My guess is post #6. If you didn't deliberately make that right with the clutch cover off, it probably isn't right.

    850G is dead, what next

Some Kawasakis require a cam removal for a valve adjustment. I don't want to do that.
