A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS1100E restomod project

All 3 should be 30mm ID for the bottom bearing - looks to me like the RF stem has been changed out for a 25mm one? Either that's a spacer in there or the stem has been machined down??

    1980 GS1000GL - From the scrapheap to...

I hadn't noticed this thread before - nice progress  Before you go too much further you might want to investigate kicking up the rear hoop on the frame - once you get your butt on the seat and hit a decent bump your tyre is going to hit.

    '82 GS650 - E vs. G Head - not what you're thinking...

Am I missing something here? If the heads are the same then shouldn't either cams fit??

    Help with mystery shouldered spacer

It doesn't look like anything from the bike to be honest - if I had to guess I would say it looks like a modified spacer for one of the engine mount bolts? Like #25 in this image cut in half?:

    tubeless tires

What have you got on there now? If it is truly a 1985 model then it will be tubeless applicable if they are mags.

    Front master cylinder replacement

If you want to stay with Suzuki - Bandit 600/1200 will work and the angle of the reservoir will also work nicely.

'81 GS650G: Aftermarket oversize pistons hit head

We had a GS drag race guy who worked in our shop and he would often cut a spacer base gasket out of aluminium road sign material to lower compression for turbo applications. Could be worth a try if you don't want to relieve the head or machine the pistons straight up.

    Keyless ignition w/ remote Q

Has anyone put an 1150 into an 1100e?

We used to put the 1135 engine into the 1074 Katanas quite a bit in the shop I worked in. From memory the only problem was the sprocket cover (it's been 20 years since I worked there). You could use either but had to trim them as you have noticed. The rubber mounts I think could transfer from...

How do I remove the bolts that keep the caliper together?

An air impact / rattle gun should make short work of them. You can even hold the caliper in your hand (wrap it in a shop rag).

Engine Stops While on Idling Rev

Sounds like the carbs are in need of cleaning / balancing. I'm guessing it's been sitting for a long time? Doesn't matter what the PO says he did - if it's been sitting for a long time the carbs will probably be gummed up. Does it have an airbox? What sort of exhaust? Some more pictures of the...

PCV valve (I think) modification - do I need it?

The breather is not a PCV as such - it's just a port to the camchain tunnel. The original hose (the one still connected in your pic) went to the airbox. Not sure why someone has put a second outlet on there - unless there was extra blow-by as you said it was a turbo?

    Petcock without a Priming function?

The fuel line T between carbs 2 and 3 will have an O ring at each end - so will the straight connectors between the other carbs. They are prone to drying out and leaking so I would check them as well.

    My Gs850 project bike

I wouldn't recommend wrapping the headers - apart form the cost and hassle to get the wrap on properly all it really does is help trap moisture against the pipes and make them rot faster. Either polish or paint is the best IMO.

    Caliper disassembly and seals

I just wanted to add I have never had issues with splitting 2 piece calipers on any bike I've worked on over the years - never had to drill the heads off the allen bolts or anything like that. The o ring / seal between the caliper halves can get caked up with the same corrosion you find under...

Anyone ever disassemble a gas cap on a GS1100E?

If you get to this point: There's a spring loaded tab that I'm trying to pull back with that tiny screwdriver. The barrel pops out the top once you release the tab.
