A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Engine oil leak (from base gasket)

I'm with Ed on this, dry is the way I have always done it, I had a base gasket leak on my dirt 1000 and replaced with an oem and the new tear drop shaped o rings and in this case for good measure I used three bond. The three bond (far superior than Hylomar) caused the gasket to slip and squish...

    Well, That's Annoying

Cool a handy clip thanks. I had been careful to buy what I thought was a genuine, all my other gs s' have them all original but this was the first one so I got caught out, incedntly it's also the only one that I had bought a new one all the others I put used s/h ones. Oddly the battery used to...

Should I Offer Carb O-ring Kits For Sale?

UK has a few places that do o rings and seals and if they don't have or can't get, will make o rings of any size and material I'm very sure you will have such places in the US Not expensive as you'd think, and I'm very sure a fraction the cost of OEM (Just to add they are not cut and joined...

    Well, That's Annoying

Thanks for the answers, I had supposed it would be a shunt kind, I don't want to open up the stator because all's working ok, OEM gaskets are getting hard to come by and I'm too busy with other stuff. I had been careful to find the OEM but still caught out. I can't remember the white writing as...

    Well, That's Annoying

Some years ago my 1000S stopped charging, I replaced the regulator and rectifier with the now 'go to' Shingdengen unit and while I was at it I also replaced the stator as it was looking black and smelled a bit burned. I know these things don't give problems so I was surprised when my one failed...

Have you checked the cable itself? When it's on it's last legs it's possible that fraying could jam the cable

    Help identifying strange VM26 markings.

Could it be somebody sleeved down some 28s' for some reason? Not really GS original fitment? I had that set of Kawasaki rack if you remember that were identical to GS kind except the air screw adjustment was absent.

Repeat problems with noisey tach ... or tach cable?

For cable I use ordinary oil, whatever is in the oil can. WD40 is not a lubrication it dries off and cleans the surface. It's unlikely to be the cable that causes noise, but dry instrument bearings where the cable goes in is common. This is the stuff for your lubing issues like this ACF-50...

    GS750 crankcases

I think the answer is yes you can. You have to be super careful with the bearing location dowels and the gearbox bearing semi circular location thingies that go into the case and bearing as all these are on the lower case, if you don't disturb them at all it should all drop back together...

    Opening crank case

There's a strong feeling against doing this, Personally I change the chain out in any case if the engine is open. However I think the soft link option is a very good one, I have done several this way and never had a problem. If manufacturers like DID offer soft link options then that says...

    750 Katana Resurrection

Good news, I like your clear look headlight, it looks much better than the one on my Katana. Also good news because the clear looking halogen one on my DR200 also an E4 that is on it's way to UK is probably the best headlight I've ever had on a bike. As an aside I used one of those cheapo ebay...

    750 Katana Resurrection

Interesting and confusing, over the years I've replaced a few of the E4 in UK. This might be the reason as Gorminder says. The last one on my 1000 dirt bike was also an ancient E4 that came on the bike (bought as a breaker because it was so horrible) I can't remember which way it dipped now, the...

    750 Katana Resurrection

This is an E4 headlight approved for Holland, the dip will be the wrong way, Your original headlight glass is correct as there is no arrow this means it's for driving on the left. I'm pretty sure that it's the glass diffusing that determines where the beam focuses. If an E45, E47, E11 (Or any...
