A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    2024 WSBK Superpole

Great racing this weekend. I knew that Iannone would make a comeback, but I didn't expect him to be at the front straight away. This year will be an interesting one.

    Air leak, but where?

Here is the bike when I got it, I don't have any post-rebuild pictures yet. And here is the headtube sticker, which is probably not useful anymore It might be worth noting that in 1980, Cycle World Magazine had the following to say about the new quicker, faster, easier to start Suzuki GS550...

    Air leak, but where?

It occurred to me that I had a hard time fitting all the air intake boots at once. They were oriented correctly with the sync ports down and to the outside, but they did not line up perfectly with the carbs. Not even close, really. This is a problem I have seen on the forum before, here. I...

    Air leak, but where?

No, it has reserve. It does not have a prime function.

    Air leak, but where?

Hello everyone, I'm wrapping up a complete rebuild of my 1980 GS550E and am having some idle issues. I was hoping to find some insight here before I start taking everything apart again. Because my petcock has no prime position, only on and reserve, I used a mity-vac on the vacuum line to prime...

    Greetings - 1980 GS550E Winter Project

I only rode it briefly after I got it, but the engine seems to be in fine working order. The carbs were a little rich. I figure there are three potential outcomes of tearing it down for a rebuild: I find no problems and button it back up with some new seals and a lot of confidence in the motor...

    Greetings - 1980 GS550E Winter Project

Not really, but I need to find something to do this winter! It does have some issues that I need to correct such as frame rust, headtube bearings that don't move freely, one leaky carb, and the brake fluid seems to have been replaced with actual mud at some point. The complete tear down is...

    Greetings - 1980 GS550E Winter Project

Hello, I have been lurking around the forum for maybe two weeks now and I suppose it's time I introduce myself. I'm a big Suzuki fan. I've had a number of V-stroms, GSX-Rs, DR-Z400s, and now my first classic bike, this 1980 GS550E. My intention is for it to be my everyday street bike next year...
