A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. VM22SS pilot screws question

    Perfect. Thank you.

    VM22SS pilot screws question

Well nuts. I have new pilot screws. I assume they'll have to be screwed in further than the others to account for the larger pilot hole now? The sharp tips now poke thru the bodies just a bit. And all the orifices are clear. Just cleaned the carbs and checked the holes with a flashlight.

    VM22SS pilot screws question

I thought as much too but these are obviously manufactured this way and this is the second time I've seen it. The fuel screws appear manufactured this way too - it is not broken off or filed down.

    VM22SS pilot screws question

So, question for the gurus... my 1977 vm22ss carbs have 2x different types of pilot screws. 2 carbs have a very pointy fuel screw and 2 carbs have a less pointed fuel screw. The fuel screws correspond to different sizes of pilot fuel holes in the carb bodies (small for pointy, large for less...

VM Carb Choke Pickup Tube Replacement

Except when you go to solder it and they crumble away... Tried that first. Wouldn't be engineering a solution this elaborate if the obvious worked. Plus - it gives me something to do.

VM Carb Choke Pickup Tube Replacement

Awesome. I stopped using carb dip a while back in favor of using my sonic cleaner with aluminum safe simplegreen. I'll get some carb dip and wire brushes.

VM Carb Choke Pickup Tube Replacement

Yeah - anything I can do about the chalkiness? One is really bad looking.

VM Carb Choke Pickup Tube Replacement

And a shot in the carb.

VM Carb Choke Pickup Tube Replacement

Not sure if this was covered before but... here it goes. Had 4x cracked choke pickup tubes on my 77 GS550 carbs. Was annoyed, because I had acquired a 500 mile bike and was hoping it'd be in better condition. I saw a modeling video on YT and thought - that's some really small brass tube. 5...

    Speedmoto VM30 Kit

Havent been able to find any stock airbox units for a 450t that would have cost less after buying all the missing bits. I'm under the impression the airboxes mount differently between models?

    Speedmoto VM30 Kit

Might be true. Was missing the airbox, etc. How well do the stock carbs respond to K&N pods? Still have the stockers and don't object to going back. I came from the metal-puck Honda CV carbs that were impossible to correctly tune to pods so I assumed these would be similar.

    Speedmoto VM30 Kit

I'm understanding that the enricher circuit on VM30s is huge compared to the similarly sized CV carbs.

    Speedmoto VM30 Kit

Split cable keeps them in sync. They do sound majorly oversized but they seem to run fine - except for the enricher circuit.

    Speedmoto VM30 Kit

Alright, need some bigger brains than mine to work on this. I recently bought a VM30 carb kit from Speedmoto to replace the damaged carbs that were on this 82 GS450 when I bought it. They actually work great - once the engine is warmed up. Thats the issue, however. The enricher circuit...
