If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does Suzuki GS450 tachometer fit and work on a GS650GT?

I have replaced the cable and it has made no difference. There are a few used GS650 tachometer around for sale, but how well these work is questionable, hence was looking at other (new old stock) tachometers that could fit.

Does Suzuki GS450 tachometer fit and work on a GS650GT?

The tachometer (rev counter) on my GS650GT is quite lazy and does not go above 6000 rpm. Wanted to know if a Suzuki GS450 (1980s) tachometer would fit and work on a GS650GT?

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

I've just ordered a pair of Hagon progressive springs (quite cheap at ?89). I going to compare their length against the two factory springs (long and short), and work out what length of spacer to get enough preload. Not keen on the idea of cutting off any bit of the new progressives, problem...

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

Just received email back from Race Tech with details of their spring set which contain bits for preload. Still thinking about going with progressive springs, simply because I can source them here in the UK, and they would cost half as much as importing any from US. No rush to get this sorted...

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

New springs it is then. I can only find progressive springs for these fork, and their length is around 80mm shorter than the combined length of the two original springs, would I have to make this length up with a spacer to get the right preload?

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

Do you think by putting a few washers between the two springs could create a bit of preload and overcome some of the fork sag?

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

GS650GT - I've had the forks re-chromed, replaced seals and both DU rings, and refilling with 15w oil. With the forks fully extended, distance between bottom fork brace and dust seal is around 183mm, from this I've worked out the fork sag to be around 85-90mm. I could be wrong, but this to me...

    GS650GT setting the timing

Thanks for your reply, very helpful. Following your advice, I've now set it so that with 1-4 T, the 1 arrow is pointing slightly over the gasket surface. This is the closest it's going to get. Cheers

    GS650GT setting the timing

GS650GT, I cannot seem to set the timing on the exact timing marks. The timing chain is new, but the chain guides front and rear are not, although wear was not too bad (35k mile engine). On the exhaust cam with the 2 arrow pointing straight up perpendicular to cam and the 1 arrow exactly in...

Valve cover and camshaft bearing caps bolts.

If bearing cap bolts have a grade 9 on them, then I better go with metric 10.9. Here in the UK we refer to stockers as flange bolts, those are the ones I'm going for. Cheers

Valve cover and camshaft bearing caps bolts.

Hi, I will be soon be putting the cylinder head back on my GS650, and planning of replacing valve cover and camshaft bearing cap bolts. Thinking of going for A2 stainless steel for the valve cover, and HT grade 8,8 for the bearing caps, is this a good idea, or any better suggestions? Thanks

Would the upgraded brakes come from gs850 or gs1000?

    New GS650GT owner

Greetings, I'm a new forum member and a proud owner of a 1981 GS650GT. The bike is current in my spare room in bits undergoing some maintenance. Hopefully should all back together and running just in time for this coming spring and warmer weather.
