A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    the best 650 engine options

I don't know about specs. What I can tell you is that back when my 650E was new, it had a much better low RPM pull than my friends 550E. His bike had no grunt. Mine would pull from about 2000 RPM where his wouldn't. My 650E was cold natured but after I put in a Dynojet kit it wasn't cold natured...

    1982 GS1100gl project

I'm in awe! Your work is stunning to me. I've been asking people online with stunning old bikes how they did it and get no replies. How did you get your carb tops so shiny? Was that from rubbing with 0000 steel wool? How do you polish your chrome? How do you polish the painted surfaces? Sorry...

Replacement advice needed for '82 1100 OEM air filter element

Thanks Ed for that link. Is it necessary to seal the covers? As long as the air goes through the filter should be the only concern, right? That's always been a mod to get more air by drilling holes or removing the cover. Also, if you take up the slack using foam, how do you slide it back in...

I haven't been able to access any dslextreme links that I've found here including this one. I always get an "error 522 connection timeout" error. If someone could post that pdf file here or send it to me I would appreciate it.

Replacement advice needed for '82 1100 OEM air filter element

I also have an 82 GS1100G with an aftermarket air filter. It was like that when I bought it recently. For some reason it is wedged in there with a piece of wood. I was wondering if this is a common problem and what anyone has done that is a better idea.

    Stator Cover

I found some 5 inch long threaded rod that I'm going to use. That should help prevent knocking the gasket out of place and help with feeding the wires. I also have Gasgacinch on the way to tack the gasket in place.

    Air Forks

I had originally thought about the syringe and tube method but was a little worried about how consistent that might be. I need to find some solid tubing. That would be more accurate. Stator Cover

I was trying to remember that name. Seems like I remember using Gasgacinch many moons ago. They didn't have any at the parts store and I'm trying to keep from ordering anything. I'd like to get it back together quickly. I had thought about using bolts but I don't have a way to cut the heads off...

    Stator Cover

I used a pizza box and poked holes in the top as a template for the screws. My problem is that there isn't anyway to get a good grip on the side cover to control it. Once you get close to the rotor it gets pulled from my finger tips and then the gasket gets all messed up. Seems the part of the...
