A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1979 GS1000 S lock switch ?

I'm restoring a 79 1000 S and about to get into the instrument cluster. It has a toggle switch I've never seen before , looks factory as it mounts on fairing bracket. I think wiring diagram calls it a lock switch. It's #38 on a parts fiche but descriptions only go to 31. Is this some kind of...

    Brake Rubber Blues

I was looking for the same thing a while back and ran into a dead end. Found some on another set of used calipers slightly less horrible than the ones I was working with. Good luck

    1979 GS1000 S engine case emblems

I am looking to replace the engine case emblems on my 1000 project. The left side alternator cover emblem is pretty easy to find and I have a couple different versions of that one. I haven't had any luck finding the points cover right side. I even bought a couple of decals to replace them but...

Any suggestions for freeing stuck pistons in cylinder

It is definitely is stuck with rust. Doesn't look that bad to me, Don't think a picture would show much. So started probably 3 months ago with PB Blaster sprayed down the plug holes. Didn't realize pistons 2 & 3 were at TDC until I got the head off. What ever I put in the cylinders does...

Any suggestions for freeing stuck pistons in cylinder

Hi All , I am restoring a 1979 GS 1000 S . The bike has been sitting a very long time , since like 1982 ( still had gas in the tank from then ) I knew there would be some issues but not the one that brought me to a halt. It had an old RC eng. pipe that was pretty much completely rusted off. I...
