A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Recently ran bike after carb rebuild.

I've recently rebuilt my carbs on my GS850 and rejetted with a dynojet kit. floats are all in spec, new O-rings from Ed, new intake O-rings, valves seem to still be in spec although some might be a little tight. Everything is stock apart from jets and pod filters. Valve clearances are as...

    Starter

Do you know if this could replace a 31100-49050 starter for a GS850?

Fuel hose size from peacock to tee connectors between carbs

I think 5/16" Internal diameter. The vacuum line is 1/4" Internal. At least that's what my GS850G has.

    Carb rebuild questions

So last year in about March, I picked up my GS850g. It was running but only on what seemed like 3 cylinders. I didn't ride it and made plans to work on it over winter to get it ready for the summer this year. The previous owner said they had the carbs cleaned/rebuilt and still couldn't get the...

    Pull style choke

Does anybody know if there is a conversion kit/part to mount a pull style choke directly to the carburetor? I'm looking to remove it from my handle bar and get rid of the cable style choke. Thank you.

    1981 GS550 starter dead

try checking out some of the wiring diagrams on bikecliff's website. couldn't see one for a 550 but there is a 450 which might help you trace back some wires.

    1981 GS550 starter dead

I'd try and rule out little things first like the kick stand switch or maybe the starter relay. Check for voltage on the large wire going from the relay to the starter motor.

    1983 GS850G ignitor unit issue

So I've figured out the weak intermittent spark is only cylinders 1 and 4. Both the HT leads come from the same distributor coil although the resistance of the primary and secondary seem to test the same as the good distributor coil for cylinders 2 and 3 which makes me think its not the...

    1983 GS850G ignitor unit issue

I'm having an intermittent issue with my GS850G. It will idle and then randomly shut off. After some tinkering I noticed that when the ignitor unit is bumped it turns off, has anyone had this issue or know what could be the issue? I have also noticed when i ground the plugs and crank the bike...

    Fuel tank repair (1983 GS850G)

Because I'm looking for a quick fix right now so I can ride over the summer, do you think putting putty or soldering over the seam could work until winter when ill strip the tank down and do it properly?
