A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Identifying Carb Off Etched Number

Hi gang, does the "34" at the beginning of this part number indicate these are BS34 Mikuni Carbs? I can't pull them off for a few days to measure the throat. Thanks!

Regarding FACTORY PRO CV Protocol.. bog 2-3.5k

Thats what I was hoping! Filter is oiled too. Yes, the needles look like that, I believe they’re original, I’ve got 4 that came with that kit and were not used. I’ve attempted different shimming and am at 1/4 metal shims (4 being = to the original nylon spacer). Really pulls at 5k, and up to...

Regarding FACTORY PRO CV Protocol.. bog 2-3.5k

Yup, but apparently 650 owners have the same chances as spotting a unicorn as finding that cone/cage that holds the UNI-filter. Little did I know I could rebuild the top end of the engine, clean the carb twice and rebuild, and be at the mercy of a plastic cone

Regarding FACTORY PRO CV Protocol.. bog 2-3.5k

I bought the bike with the carbs rebuilt using unknown kit, and a cracked exhaust valve. I rebuilt the top end and the carbs were cleaned and rebuilt again. The original pilots were shot, so new ones from a kit were put in as well as kit 110. Probably keyster. I would’ve never changed stock...

Regarding FACTORY PRO CV Protocol.. bog 2-3.5k

Hey gang, I'm spending the day trying to tune out a bog right after idle, under load between 2-3.5k in first gear, happens in 4k range in second. I've followed the Factory Pro CV methodology, and this area seems to be related to fuel level. Vacuum sync is as perfect as I've ever gotten it. How...

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

Right, I've tried iterations of my own "cage" that I thought would work no problem, but I've been lean across the board and am chasing a serious dead spot in the throttle between 2-3.5/4k. That, and my plugs are white. After I limp it past that part of the rev range it really takes off and I can...

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

BTW Rich, I was born and raised just a few miles West down 45 from you, State College. Parents still live there. Just had coffee at midnight in late June at the Sheetz in Mifflinburg on a Honda NX650 headed to Rhode Island, made the ferry at noon the next day!

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

Hey thanks n’at haha from what I’ve gathered, finding a cone is like spotting a unicorn. I can’t be the first person to shove a sponge in it but before I continue down this route… I figured I’d ask what the common course of action is

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

Symptoms w/ Uni filter, no cone, hoping it was sealing in the box, 115 OEM mains, needles shimmed in half, mixture screws. 3-5 out - idled fine, seems lean, 5 turns out still seems lean -riding it, almost no response between 2-3.5/4k, then BOOM it takes off and I can redline, still seems lean...

Missing Air Filter Cone- 82 GS650g- solutions?

Hi gang, first post though I’ve been on here constantly for a couple months. I’m in the final stages of tuning a GS650g I bought with a cracked exhaust valve. I rebuilt the top end, cleaned the carb and rebuilt with new o-rings, and i believe my tuning troubles are down to the air box. Same old...
