A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1979 GS850 fork alignment questions

Hello, It's been sometime since I've posted. Everything was going well until the end of June and this past July 4th that I've dropped my previously well cared for GS850. The first drop was not so bad as I was on it and I was able to slow the 850's decent. The most recent one was worse as I was...

    SH775 wire harness guidance

Hello, GSResources readers. A few weeks ago, I made a pretty lengthy first post, which can be found here: https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/featured-forums/gs-owners/1767511-a-one-year-rider-and-a-46-year-old-sport-touring-motorcycle-1979-gs850 Basically I have purchased a 1979...

Thanks for the response Redman. I appreciate the answer about the headlight switch not being affected by the Stator being directly connected to the R/R. No worries there. As for the GSR Rally, I will see if I can get the GS850 ready throughout May. Looks like it's happening late in June so I...

A one year rider and a 46 year old sport touring motorcycle - 1979 GS850

Let's make a big ol reply post here. Sounds like I should give the Windjammer a try, which I was planning on. But seeing more endorsements for it is encouraging. I already had a taste of its effectiveness with the few winter rides I had on it. I think the fairing is quite large, but somehow...

Thanks! It's been a while since I've used a traditional message board, but I remember the little code tag things that were used. And yeah I've certainly got a novel here so I'll take each section and send them out as their own threads in the appropriate subforum.

A one year rider and a 46 year old sport touring motorcycle - 1979 GS850

Part 2... Suspension: I don't feel like the suspension needs urgent addressing, but it is something I want to after the tires, brake lines, and electricals are addressed. I was thinking of getting the Progressive rear shocks or maybe saving up a bit for the Adjust-a-Ride Ikons. Are the...

A one year rider and a 46 year old sport touring motorcycle - 1979 GS850

Disappointingly, I had written a very long and detailed post but accidentally deleted it while trying to insert some pictures and the board autosaved the deleted message so I'll have to start from scratch again and I'll see if I can rewrite everything I did for the initial post. With that out of...

Hey there. Just wanted to say congratulations on the new bike! Funny enough I was looking at that listing on FB Marketplace too until it was taken down. Nice to see someone in the community snag it!
