A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

slight power loss near redline gs550es

Thanks for your thoughts on other things that might be off with it - I was hoping it might be something simpler to pinpoint! I'm seeing the problem intermittently from 10k up. Redlining occasionally shouldn't destroy an engine, and if it does, that's because something was seriously wrong with...

slight power loss near redline gs550es

Hi all, I'm trying to diagnose an odd issue with my gs550es. I've noticed this in 2nd gear (need to test in 1st still. 3rd and up would have me going much too fast for my local roads), occasionally and unreliably when I get at or near redline there will occasionally be a temporary .5s to 1s...

    Compatible carb needle Mikuni 5C64-1 ('83 GS550ES)

Hi all, I'm in the midst of ordering new parts for my 2x Mikuni BSW30SS and am having a hell of a time finding the needle ( 5C64-1 ) anywhere. Does anyone know if there is a spec for it or a way to figure out if a different needle will work?

Any concerns being new to the track with a gs550es?

I picked up a newer 300cc bike to take while I figure out if I like it. I can take the gs later on down the line if I feel the need :)

Any concerns being new to the track with a gs550es?

Hi all I'm about to sign up for a beginners day at the local track. The person who runs the event suggested that I would have a lot more fun with a newer bike vs my '83 gs550es due to the brakes not being as good as a newer ninja 400 and the like. I have a decent amount of experience on the...

RPM gauge accurate up to 6000-7000 then flutters

Hi all, On my 1983 550es, the RPM gauge seems accurate up until about 6000-7000 or so, and then as I increase RPM it flutters and never reads higher than 7000 RPM or so even as the engine is clearly above that RPM and not fluttering as the gauge needle is. I've not been able to find a similar...
