A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

They’re still listed on the AlphaSports site

    lithium ion battery requirements

I installed a physically smaller Shorai battery in the 1150. No other changes to the charging system. I had to go with a smaller battery because changing the swingarm to a braced calfab arm from a GS 750 changed the upper travel of the linkage such that it would have smacked the original...

You can probably get something that will work from any hardware store.

Manual cam chain tensioner thread pitch

Probably a Ward. Think the Top End Oiler is the same maker on that bike.

    First time on the dragstrip!

Heh. I figured it’d be pretty loud with no baffle.

    GS drag bike updates

That “dent” in the frame rail is normal. It’s the same on my other 1150. It allows the factory battery box to slip in place.

Centerstand stop for GS1100E - need pic or info

It was a part supplied by Kerker with their Super Street pipes. Nice and tucked up out of sight. Worked great.

    Non GS bike sale posts....

Non Suzuki bikes belong in this section. This section was specifically created for ANYTHING having to do with ANY non Suzuki bike. It is spelled out, in plain English, directly below the header. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it. Actually, that’s NOT opinion. It actually says that.

    What's your favorite tank treatment?

Good radiator shop. Look for one that is known for doing tank restoration. My XLCR tank took nearly a month to clean the 40 years of crud out of it. But, no acids, and the actual holes that were poorly repaired with fiberglass were properly patched by brazing. Wasn't cheap, but with an original...

    Header flange clamps bent

Those don't look to bad. I made a tool for straightening the flanges on my Yosh, as they were REALLY bent. I'll see if I can find it and take some photos.

I broke the clutch cover mounting tab HELP!

Your uncle no doubt knows that the material must be scrupulously clean. And be sure he grounds as close to the repair as possible. I assume you're going to attempt this without pulling the motor, or disassembling it.

I broke the clutch cover mounting tab HELP!

So, you have a broken tap down in that hole? How deep into the hole is the broken tap? Not a lot of options. And none I can think of that don't require at least pulling the motor.

    1984 Katana 7/11

In this photo from the manual, you can see how the cap is above the top clamp. Just by the thickness of the lip on the cap. Hope this helps.

    1984 Katana 7/11

Looks good. Although your forks look like they're pushed too far down in the triples. The tops of the tubes should be flush, but the caps should be above.

    Didn't really need another project...

Made some headway. The bike was missing the brackets that mount the cowling, headlight & most of the electrics. After talking to several people on the interwebs, I was able to get enough info to make new ones. There are various places to get NOS parts, but they are frikkin expensive. I dropped...

Cheap NOS Compufire stock on EBAY

Went ahead an bought one as well. Don't really need it at the moment, since I have one of duaneage's Honda R/R sitting uninstalled on the shelf. But having more than one bike, I might need it in the future.

    1984 Katana 7/11

On my old '82 1000 Katana with 33s, I think I used the push pull cable setup from a GS750. Don't remember what year though. Cables were a bit long, but I just made a bigger curve at the throttle end. Didn't look bad.
