A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    High Headwinds Stutter

You may have cured your problem but here is a long discussion from 2013...I was having a similar issue at the time. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/performance-tuning-mods/63635-cross-wind-power-loss

    Dual-Sport tires for an 82 GS650GL?

Just had some Conti TKC70's mounted on my beater... I've ridden 50 or so miles on them in gravel and really like them. They do sing just a little bit on pavement but perform better than I do....

    Who like's a front fairing?

So you you guys are getting off into major fairing-speak now.... I really like this Don Vesco Rabid Transit unit but I could never get the ergonomics sorted out. For a bike used primarily for touring or sport touring it's awesome....commuting, not so much.

    Valve stem size? GS750T

The owner's manual for the '83 model says they're tubeless. My '82 has one of each...but I'm running tubeless in both right now. Sorry I can't help with the size.

    Who like's a front fairing?

Aerodynamic??!! All fairings are a compromise. I like the FM-5. It makes NO difference below 50 MPH or so....above that however, for me, the reduced blast on the chest is worth any lack of aerodynamics. I'm short, but long waisted :o and THIS fairing on THIS bike works for me...

    Who like's a front fairing?

The FM-5 was available with either a round or rectangular headlight insert.

    Who like's a front fairing?

Did someone ask about fairings.... Did someone ask about fairings.... I prefer a small fairing. I used a Plexifairing (ll?) back in the 80's but found this NOS Shoei FM5 a few years ago on eBay. I appreciate it any time we're going over about 50 mph... I use this little feller in the...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Shoei FM-5...picked it up as NOS a few years ago off of eBay. It's hard to find fairings for rectangular headlights. iPhone pic with good morning light and just the right distance away so you can't see the warts. Oakland, TN. Their "old town" is about a half block long and a block south of...

83 gs750t Just doesn't wanna go, but it used to.

+1 on tom203's comments. I run three different carb'd Suzukis and they all respond a little differently to the choke. "MY" 750T prefers a little throttle to cold-start in the spring/summer (which effectively bypasses the enrichment /choke circuit) but then requires a little choke/or throttle...

83 gs750t Just doesn't wanna go, but it used to.

This sounds pretty normal for a cold start. Was the engine fully warmed up when you got the "idle spinny knob under the carbs in the right spot"?

So, what were you doing with the choke?

    Replaced tach cable seals today

Growler...good for you and +2 on bwringer's tutorial. I did both of my 750's with his guidance . Its amazing the mess those little seals can make on the front of an engine.

530 chain spacer, front sprocket torque

Uh...I believe on both of my 750's the spacer went on the inside to compensate for the unused cushion. All you should need on the outside is a locking washer and the nut. Sorry, I don't recall the torque numbers.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Well it was 60F here today so EVERYBODY was out. I can't remember when I rode the E last, so it's been too long. Did a little 50-60 mile loop and saw everything from HDs to at least one Ducati.
