A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Let's talk about cam walk, baby...

My old 82 was like that, for many years and miles, but was never that loud. It always went away with a little engine speed.

    Help with Bike identification

GS engines get used, they are not "strained", LOL.

    1979 xs11

My son has one in the final stages of restoration. Not completely stock, but who cares. It was his only bucket list bike since he started riding 20 years ago. The engine has been rebuilt completely. Those nice stock pipes would almost trade even across for a decent bike. Hard to find.

    Found another 82 gs1100e today

I had this in the Gold Mist or whatever they were calling it. I traded a boat for it & it came with 4000 miles on it. It was a beautiful beast & one of my all time favorite bikes.

QUICKEST MOTORCYCLE IN THE WORLD!!! *39 years ago!

Anybody remember the red "83" 1100 E on the TV show "Pinks", took the other guy's "17" Harley V-Rod? I don't think he actually took the V-Rod. They were buddies.

A (probably) dumb R/R placement question

"Nobody was talking about Miles Davis' temperature." His temp was always on the high side...:sour:

Float height with tubing: individual or together?

I'll do it either way. I haven't seen a lot of difference.

    Harbor freight brake bleeder

I have the second one. It's always worked like a charm for me.

Owned this bike for 35 years, 1982 GS1000SZ Katana

"The valve stem bases would not accept a tubeless stem anyway." There is more than one type, so you may want to research that a little. It's difficult for me to remember what I did to each bike, but one set of rims already had the stem hole just the right size for tapping threads for a screw in...

I have twins in the garage

Make one out of the two? Are you nuts? I see two fine bikes there, not one. Get a grip.....

Just as sad you can't see it.

    do you like safety switches?

"The more we make our machines idiot-proof, the more we become idiots" Truer words were never spoken. There should be a line in the sand somewhere.

    do you like safety switches?

I've owned a couple of Viragos, and they had many positives. The best clutch feel in the business for my money. Bulletproof rear drive, never have seen one bad. Far better wiring than Suzuki seemed capable of. Great charging system also. Great wide torque band, and really smooth for a twin of...

GS 550E 1978 starter motor parts

I rebuilt the starter motor on my GS850 using Honda parts dug out by my dealer. Some of the starter stuff is fairly universal.

Why are CBs and KZs the popular ones.

I believe there are far more GS survivors than Honda or Kawasaki. I see GS bikes quite a bit, the others not so much. Rarity breeds value. It's the price Suzuki paid for being a better bike. Except for the wiring.....

More '82 GS1100E love from Yammie Noob

If you want to compare old bike capabilities with new bikes, get one that's in new condition. The lack of knowledge these guys are showing leaves me seriously unimpressed. I had this same bike nearly new, 3K in 1982, and the brakes & handling were just fine. It's also better looking easily than...

    near death and back

The bills are pretty much in on me, and it's nearing a half million. I came out of it far better & faster than I was supposed to. The whole trick seems to be how soon you can get to the cardiologists. 30 minutes can be the difference between life, death, or disability. Like Red, it was decisions...

Vertical, 60 gallon, around 6.5 HP. I and both my shop involved sons love them.

    near death and back

I feel for you. 7 weeks ago I had a massive heart attack and died twice, once for a full 15 minutes. I took my 1st bike ride since then a couple days ago, about 15 miles. Surviving was a lottery odds win, and I remember almost nothing. I did feel it coming on & took a couple aspirin before my...
