A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

[1982 GS750T] Pilot Screw Adjustment and Vacuum Sync Confusion...

I prefer a sligtly modified sequence. Set mixture screws between 2 and 2 1/2 turns out from LIGHTLY seated Warm the bike Do the carb sync Fine tune the mixtures. Since turning the mixture screws will temporarily reduce the power from that cylinder, it's good to start with all cylinders pulling...

Save the Date: 2026 Brown County Indiana Rally - June 11-14, 2026

I have visited those rooms and can tell you they are quite comfortable. :encouragement: IF you happen to be needing a 'couch' in southwest oHIo, we don't have a couch worth sleeping on, we will offer the guest room with a king-size bed. .

    Rear wheel swap

As Salty Monk says, it's likely possible. I put a 16" rear on my 850 and had to add (or move) a spacer or two. Easy enough if you have access to some thick washers with large holes. .

    Cluster lighting bulbs

If you were charging at 18 volts, there is a pretty good chance the bulbs are burned out. Spray some WD-40 around the base of the bulbs, wiggle them vigorously several times, let them sit overnight, repeat a couple of times. Eventually something is going to give. .

    Fuel Gauge questions

I will agree with those that say your 6.82 volts is "normal", as there is a 7v regulator in the gauge. Well, I presume it's in the gauge, as I have never seen a separate device. At the 2-wire connector under the tank, if you short the bike side terminals, it should put the gauge to FULL. If...

    Will I die? - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

Many of us have (and currently DO) run tubeless tires on wheels that are not certified for them. Two things seem to be important if you choose to join the ranks. 1. Install a proper valve stem. Some can be all rubber and will conform to the shape of the rim, but the hole might need to be...

Do you still own a GS?

Have owned several, through the years, but currently down to just one, an '80 GS850G(K). Yes, it has bags and trunk from an 1100GK. My son also has his Vetter-equipped '80 GS1000G in my garage. Mrs. Steve has sold her '82 GS850GL to a friend and acquired a Can-Am Spyder. .

No, still "plugged in". :( Not sure how much longer, but it won't be much longer. .

Clean but mis-ID'd "81" 1000E skunk for $2,500, Socal. Nice price if legit.

Even I will agree that it's not a good-looking fairing, but I will have to say, for those who do like fairings, it protects a LOT better than a Vetter Windjammer. I don't remember for sure, but I think that is a Shoei. Had a friend in California that had one, I had the chance to try it for a...

    Temu is B.S.

Just one experience with them. Got a couple coffee mugs for Christmas presents last year. Got the merchandise, received it within what I consider a reasonable time, price was not bad at all. Scam? Not really, but I will say that their marketing practices do leave a LOT to be desired. .

This guy can sure wheelie (no GS content, it's a KTM 450 like mine)

Many years ago (40+), Doug Domokos was billed as "The Wheelie King". I watched one of his performances on a KZ1300. Quite impressive. .

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

Interesting. You have a GK that has been de-K'd, there are some of us that have Gs that we have K'd. My example is an 850. I never knew about that triangular thing, I just used a piece of flat stock to hang the lower bracket the proper distance below the frame. I have only seen one other...

Riding & the effect on the mind.

The movie was only "groundbreaking news" to non-motorcyclists. However, I will disagree slightly with one premise. They suggest that riding can be therapy. No doubt on that, but I have also heard that, after an arguement or particularly stressful situation, you should NOT "Go for a ride to...

    Fairing?

If you are looking for something that will deflect the wind blast off your chest an NOT obstruct your vision, check out the National Cycle Street Sheild EX. My son had one on his 650L, it looked and worked great. .

    Multiple (Carburetor?) Problems

I have not seen anyone mention it specifically, but if this IS an '83 550L, it should have the BSW two-barrel carbs. Procedures and o-rings are just a bit different on these. chrisptip, concerning your "third and kind of least important problem", assuming the carburetion and ignition are...

    Long trips anyone?

If you are going to go through the effort of removing and inspecting the R/R, why not just source a GENUINE SH775 and install it? Once you determine a location for it (it's a bit larger than stock), installation is rather quick and easy. .

Side Covers wanted Suzuki GSL model early 80s

Any in particular, or don't you care? I ask because each model had rather unique covers, with the exception of the 850 and 1000. In the case of the 850, year also matters, as the '80/'81 covers were different than the '82/'83. .

Toyota Rav4 only come with hybrid engines in 2026

I have been under the impression that virtually all hybrids have one form or another of a "CVT". As I mentioned earlier, Toyota uses an "eCVT" that does not use belts, chains or pulleys, but uses a sun/ring/planetary gear arrangement to provide seemingly endless ratios. Seems to work rather...
