A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Handlbars

I have a 1980 GS750L. I picked up a set of shorter "E" style bars. I need to shorten the throttle, clutch & turn/electrical lines. Front brake line is, IMO, easiest to just order from spiegler. Is it as straight forward as finding the cables/lines from an "E" model? or is there a better...

    Things I Made

Made a couple of "things". Thought I would share on this cold morning. -1F (-18C...I think). Converted an old paint roller into a dent removing tool to get inside the gas tank. The steel ball is a pre threaded 1" 1/4-20 from McMaster-Carr. Added threads to the end of it w/ some...

    1980 GS750L Fuel Leak

The carbs are back together, all O-rings replaced. Did a leak test with an aux fuel tank and it passed. Decided to take opportunity with airbox off to address an issue with breather hose. The nipple on the air box is missing. I added an breather air filter and taped over the hole on the...

    1980 GS750L Fuel Leak

Took your advice and ordered the o-ring kit from Ed. Very quick turnaround. Thanks Ed! Between Ed's and the K&L kit I think I had most everything needed. Note..... To anybody else doing this for the first time (like me). Please see Nessism's first reply... "You could have saved a...

    1980 GS750L Fuel Leak

Thanks Ed. Since watching that video so many others have popped up. IMO - you take what you can from each. Question for you... Would these O-rings work on a bike? I've been thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an assortment around for various uses...

    1980 GS750L Fuel Leak

Went out the other day to go for a ride. Started bike to warm it up and fuel started dripping from carbs. :-k It wasn't the main fuel line. I was trying to avoid pulling the carbs out of fear I'd never get the bike back out on the road this year also I have never pulled carbs off a bike...

1983 GS750ES can't replace fuel line with carburetor on bike

I recently picked up a cheap endoscope off of EBay, less than $12.00 shipped. It works w/ android phones. Came in handy to check if the fuel line was seated all the way between the carbs. It wasn't... so I fixed it. Nice to have an extra set of eyes.

    Safe To Weld?

The front chain guard bracket broke off the swingarm on my '80 GS750L. I want to weld it back on. Is it safe to weld on the bike and not harm any electrical systems? I've read on various sites that I would just need to disconnect the battery. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

    Greetings everyone

Ha ha. Enjoyed many a spam sandwich as a kid. I liked a little mayo on it. Nice Bike. I've been working on a '80 GS750L. It ran just fine when I bought it last fall. I've been working to freshen it up, knock some of that 40 yrs off of it, tires, brake lines, master cylinder rebuild, oil...

    Oil not returning to crankcase

Have similar issue. I changed out my oil pan gasket, changed filter while I was in there. Added 4Q of Valvoline 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil. I did not start it (pipes are off and no fuel) but I did crank motor to get pressure. Since then the oil level in the glass appears empty. I know...

The hair dryer worked like a charm! It's some sort of cheap metal. Removed it, heated it up and ever so slightly bent it back. :dancing:
