A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Excellent. Thank you for the confirmation.

    '82 GS650G Project

Would you mind taking a look at my conversions from feeler gauge size to mm for me? Like I mentioned above, just looking for confirmation or denial before I move on from this. "Okay, so I managed to check the clearances between the shim and the camshaft lobe according to the 8 valve guide you...

    '82 GS650G Project

I feel you, I'm having the same issue myself lol. Before assuming I'm correct I'm just looking for confirmation that I am right from someone with more experienced.

    '82 GS650G Project

Okay, so I managed to check the clearances between the shim and the camshaft lobe according to the 8 valve guide you supplied me with. The .0015" feeler fit under all of them so no gaps are under .03 mm (roughly) and the .003" feeler fit under all of them so no gaps is larger than .07 mm...

    Stock Airbox Parts '82 GS650G

Lol, you would really think so. I'm going to try my hand at making one, since it just needs to seal off the airbox and hold the filter in place. If that doesn't work I may go with pods anyways I guess.

    Stock Airbox Parts '82 GS650G

Well crap, it sounds like that cover is pretty necessary haha. Any chance someone around here has good leads on where to find one? I have not had much success as of yet.

    Stock Airbox Parts '82 GS650G

I was originally thinking about going with pod filters on each carb, but after looking through the recommended technical info on the forums I've decided against it. However, I do have a couple questions regarding the stock airbox. First being, how in the world does the stock air filter (the...

You were right about your plug wire vs plug guess. I only swapped the plug, not the wires. Thankfully I know enough to know that would be a terrible idea. Is there a good guide for checking valve clearances? I assume that's to see if they are sealing the cylinders properly after wear and...

    '82 GS650G Project

I didn't swap the plug wires, just the plugs themselves to eliminate the possibility that the plug itself is the issue. Those links already show up for me, thanks for the info! I'll check those out and see if I messed anything up. When I rebuilt them the first time I was using the guide listed...

Probably would have been a good idea to just play with the 2 carbs instead of all 4. Thanks for the help!

    '82 GS650G Project

Thanks for the quick response rphillips! I'll have to use the search for info on the front master cylinder, i had only tried using it for the top end noise. Glad to hear the top end noise is probably just tuning related. I haven't yet tuned it using a vacuum gauge on the carb since I can't...

    '82 GS650G Project

I've been working on an '82 GS650G I recently acquired and had a few questions I've been having trouble finding answers to. First, do these bikes have a particularly loud top end? Mine has more noise than I expected and am hoping that nothing too serious is going on. After looking up a couple...
