DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Handlebar Replacement Issue

If I remember right the damper inside was an aftermarket device and was marketed as the "Barsnake". Yes, the purpose was to dampen uncool vibes translated through the hollow handlebar. It's pretty cool that is in there. You don't see them anymore.

Clutch cover allan head wont torque

Were it my bike Noreg, I would helicoil all of them. As you state the screws were all too short I suspect there may be damage to all tapped holes. Get correct length screws as well. If you are not planning to keep the bike just repair those holes that are proven to be damaged. Leaking clutch...

Help Please? Vintage V&H top end oiler question.

Thanks Ray, I was hoping you would come through. Actually not too much of a mess as the bike was running at a lumpy slow idle and not for very long. Just enough to build oil pressure up through the top end and freak me out. I should have thought about the cam chain tunnel. You are right on...

Help Please? Vintage V&H top end oiler question.

Hey guys! Could you please advise me on a question I have? I'm hoping to get some info on my top end oiler function. I have a 1982 Suz. GS1100 engine in my bike and have installed an early Vance & Hines top end oil kit. This kit uses the two hoses, one fitted to either side of the cam portion...

    Overhead oilers. ?

But Ray, is this "flooding" of oil I describe typical of top end oilers? Will the bottom end suffer due to such a large amount of oil being diverted to the head? I'm wondering if the rocker box will actually pressurize with oil, or is this simply lunacy on my part? streetfighters

    Overhead oilers. ?

Sorry I'm late to the party ( holidays and all). If I may ask, I've an early GS1100 I built up ( 1168 cc, crank blueprint and balance, and used APE studs in anticipation of running Nitrous. I installed a vintage V&H TOE and the rocked box simply flooded with oil at idle while running the engine...

Oh, sorry, I suppose the original question should have been " where can I get exactly what I want for as little cost as possible? You could ty-wrap the carbs in place, that's even less than .80 cents each. I didn't know 8 bucks would break the bank. streetfighters

    V&h 4-1

Yeah, it's a bolt-on system, the flanges are on the exhaust. You should replace the exhaust gaskets when you do and jetting may be required. If it is a drag pipe, however, peg and rear mount changes will need to be made. streetfighters

    84 1150 Chassis w/ 82 1100 Engine Wiring

Opinions requested please! Well, I feel this should have come to me already but I cannot figure out the details.I figure I'm getting daffy in my old age. Maybe my brain is full. I have a 1984 GS1150 chassis that I have put a 1982 GS1100 engine in. Naturally, wiring is different. The 1100 engine...

So whats the deal with the V-max?

Well, you love them or hate them. I've owned a 1985 that I blew lots of money on with bolt-on parts. My current giggle-scooter is a 1997 V-Max, basically the same bike without all the aftermarket stuff. They are fun to ride but small fuel tank means frequent gas stops. Watch out for transmission...

I seem to recall they were known to be pretty gutless. Lots of people tried to make baby Z-1's out of them and got the look right but were not content with the power. They are, however, good all around UJM's and reliable transport. Just don't expect 3rd. gear power wheelies. streetfighters
