I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    VM26 fuel T O-rings.

I let the carbs sit too long after cleaning. About 3 months. Leaked immediately on start up. Thought I’d wait and see if they swell up. Next day no more leaking at all. Ok now. Thank you though.

    VM26 fuel T O-rings.

Fuel T leaking. I replaced the original T with a Z1Enterprise billet aluminum T 5 years ago. The Z1 O-rings that came with the T did fit the fitting but would not slip into the carb, so I bought some O-rings from Robert Barr that fit the Z1fitting perfectly and of course slipped into the carbs...

Looking for plug wires for my Dynatek coils.

Hi everyone. My ‘79 GS1000E has Dynatek Green coils. I want to replace them and the wires. I’m trying to find a kit that includes 2 straight plug caps and 2 at 90 degrees bend for cylinders 1 and 4. I want black wires. I believe I need 8MM wires. Can you suggest a maker?

    High Altitude GS1000

As Nessism said, a ‘79 GS1000 uses VM26. Kawasaki’s used VM28’s. Either way, if you’re happy with the way your bike runs in Ohio, the higher altitude in Colorado won’t require jet changes. Not for running around for a week. You won’t be at 3/4 to full throttle position when riding in a National...

    GS1000 fuel petcock

I have a '79 GS1000E and I got rid of the stock petcock 24 years ago. I bought a Pingel in polished finish. I've had only 1 problem where the lever was getting hard to turn after 18 years. I called Pingel and they offer, and still do, a rebuild service that was under $20. You mail them the fuel...

Powder coat or spray paint frame

I had my '79 GS1000E frame, swingarm, stands, fork clamps, wheels, rotor centers, battery holder, footpegs, even the peg bolts and some engine bolts/various hardware powder coated. That was 24 years ago. Not a single problem. Of course, my bike is garaged and always covered with fleece blankets...

How to avoid breaking fuel screw tips when setting fuel screws to 1 turn out?

All the above advice is helpful. I'm not sure what you mean by "the required 1 rotation". Depending on intake mods, once fine-tuned, the pilot fuel screws are commonly at 1/2 to 2 turns out from lightly seated and the best position often varies from cylinder to cylinder because of small...

Fiddling the Mikunis on the Kat 750

Carbs are fun. Re-jetting for intake/exhaust mods are even more fun. Not sure I understand your reasoning, but whatever works for you. There is an "over lap" effect when you transition from one jetting circuit to the next. There are so many variables in re-jetting for mod's. Sometimes there is...

Fiddling the Mikunis on the Kat 750

Kiwi: As soon as the bowl came off the cause of the rich running on cylinder 1 was obvious. The nitrile bung which seals the pilot jet was missing... As I'm the only one working on the bike, mea culpa. What a dick! In the Mikuni BS the pilot jet draws its fuel from the main jet. Or from an...

Fiddling the Mikunis on the Kat 750

I don't own your model and I do appreciate the detailed work and trial and error you're sharing. The leak at the coil and the compromised rubber parts are basic maintenance things, meaning you'll waste time if these things aren't checked first. Carburetion tuning always comes last after...

2023 John McGinness Special Honda Fireblade

The GS1000S was a replica of what Wes Cooley rode to the 1979 and 1980 World Superbike championships. 500 were sold in the U.S. in 1979. 700 more in 1980, supposed to be 1 for every Suzuki dealership in the U.S. I just missed out on a new one at the Pasadena, Ca. dealership. I "settled" for a...

Your thoughts on using 88 octane E0 with 1085 pistons.

I found a station that sells ethanol-free 91 octane. So I'm off the hook for now. As bonanzadave said, airports sell the higher octane ethanol-free gas. The Phillips 66 I went to uses a blue colored pump for ethanol-free and the prices on their sign show ethanol-free in blue. You still need to...

Your thoughts on using 88 octane E0 with 1085 pistons.

Thanks for the reply. I never had carb problems (specifically, the pilot circuit) until I moved to Utah. I ran the 91 octane 10% ethanol, same as I did in California, but I rode more often in Cal'. Maybe it was the combination of a hot garage, riding only every 7-10 days and the 10% ethanol. I...

Your thoughts on using 88 octane E0 with 1085 pistons.

91 octane E0 is getting hard to find here in Utah so I have to try the 88. I can't run the 91 ethanol, or any ethanol, because it gums up my carbs due to only riding maybe once a week. I don't ride fast anymore, just cruise/moderate speeds you might say. Do you think the bike will ping on 88...
