A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    TRO.bike "777" Tour (7 Riders, 7 States, 7 Days)

I think this will be my 5th year running doing this tour. The only way to not have a good time is to be the kind of person who is unable to have a good time. The only thing better than a long weekend riding with like-minded people at a rally is to do it for a solid week across several states...

Save the Date: 2026 Brown County Indiana Rally - June 11-14, 2026

Did you pull the plug? YouTube has been trying to show me all kinds of retirement planning stuff. I think this might be the first time I've ever had an ambition. Obviously, I'm in for the rally....

Fall Farmington Ride - aka: Dave Davis Memorial Ride

Well, I guess we can go to Colton's. If we must. I need to get this bookeded.

    2025 Brown County GS Rally - June 19 - 22

I got home about 1:00 this afternoon. Stripped down and pretty much immediately took a nap. HOT. It was good to see everyone again. I got ripped off last year. Shoulda asked for my registration fee back.

The actual freedom of an old car

I'll go one further: having a financial plan should be entrenched in the minds of students... Scratch that. Parents should be teaching kids to have a financial plan. Asking the government education system to do it is just another way to give away control, and keeping control is one of the big...

    2025 Brown County GS Rally - June 19 - 22

What is this, cars and coffee? For one thing, Brett, it's not your bikes that constrain your ability to fit in. For another, I make an effort every year to set the bar low enough for everyone's bikes, so ride whatever you think will be fun. Either way, it'll be good to have you back. Rich asked...

    Tire change with a rope?

Some of the ADV types around here carry tire irons with them. Maybe one lever and a rope would be lighter or pack easier? Maybe the ADV people are already aware of this. At any rate, this seems safer for aluminum wheels.

    Hard clutch pull

Definitely could be the springs, but you should also check for sharp bends in the cable routing and make sure the lever is lubed at the pivot and where the cable connects. It can make a surprising difference. Easier to check than the springs too. My 1000G went from a 4-finger pull to a 2-finger...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Did you charge yourself BMW repair rates? Get yourself somethin' nice and go out for dinner at a nice joint.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Condition is a little better each day. It's still going to be next year before I can ride again, I think. Safely anyway. I think I need to set a rule for myself that I need to be strong enough to pick it up in case of a tip over. I'm a long way from that.

    !@#$% Tube!

Good spirits eh? All the insurance and paperwork flying around. I saw the form for the initial diagnosis in Jasper. They had checked the box marked dizzy/giddy. Apparently, they hadn't met me before. Brian and Robin had come to check on me, and we were just having a normal (for us) conversation...

Hey, you're not far from the legendary Steve. he's been to busy remodeling to be on the forum much this year. The only thing I need right now is the ability to feel more gratitude. Enjoy your hog roast!

1100G(GK) ignition switch stuck in Park position

I did this to myself last summer (long story) and had to take the ignition switch assembly off another bike. The little finger that comes out of the lock assembly engages a tab on the frame to prevent rotation of the steering. On mine, the little finger that comes out of the lock assembly still...

    !@#$% Tube!

I'm planning to see if I can get the tire off the rim far enough to verify which stem I need. I have about 3000 miles scheduled for June, and I don't want to be thinking about a stupid tube.

    !@#$% Tube!

So. I got my front wheel back from Octane Outlet in Middletown with the new tire mounted. This wheel was converted to tubeless over 4 decades ago and this idiot organization took it upon themselves to put a tube in it anyway, without consulting me or even telling me about it. I happened to see...

Time for tires on my 1980 GS1000G, tire options and sizes.

I just ordered a front Avon for mine. The original Roadriders are NLA. Look for Roadrider MK II.
