It is a blue-grey charcoaly colour.
I think it will work nicely once the tank is done up in its blue.

Frustrating day... Spent more time driving around picking up parts than putting the frame together!

Picked up the front brakes though. Master cylinder serviced, braided hose made up, and brake caliper rebuilt.



Which is good thing, just check what the piston looked like!




They used a piston from a Nissan 1400 LDV and the engineering shop apparently broke 4 tips in the process!

Painted up the calipers, master cylinder and installed the wheels bearings as well as new rear brake pads.

I am also totally frustrated with powder coaters. They managed to coat just about every hole and surface which shouldn't have been coated. This after they assured me they know what they are doing - they have done plenty of bikes!

Hope to get tyres fitted this week.

Wow that piston's worse than mine was when I'd finished with it! Ugh!

One of the reasons I didn't get my frame powder coated was that every time I see someone get the frame done, they always seem to have to spend an inordinate amount of time afterwards clearing holes and threads of powder coating... even though they were assured beforehand they wouldn't need to do it...

I think if you find a good one you need to stick with them...

That makes me feel a little silly for discarding a piston with a little nick in it. OK, the nick is just the first step leading to that kind of mess, but ...wow. Were those brakes functional?

One of my front caliper pistons looked just like that, My new one should be comming in next week. Strange thing is that the other side wasn't that bad, just one little nick in it, perfectly reusable.

I have no idea whether or not it worked, as the bike was in pieces when I got it. Initially I was just going to replace the pads and hope for the best, but now I am glad I didn't!

The cost of servicing and replacing all required parts was about US$75 - so well worth it. Also had the disc skimmed to ensure a smooth surface - should have that back early in the week.

Reassembled the caliper with new pads and also front mc. The brake shop blasted them for me, so I just coated them with an epoxy enamel paint.





Looks brand new!

Got my seat back today! Dropped the pan of on Saturday.

Same guy that did the black 450's seat.

Very happy with it, but bit difficult to take pics of it on the frame without it being mounted:

The seat is looking Good Wally. Powder coat does as well, except for the threads. I saw the frame and wheel and thought, "Yikes, he's got some work to do cleaning that one up."

Most of the threads were taped up - luckily!

It is just the bearing recesses on the wheels and the inaccurate taping on the brake drum that cheesed me off!

I will see how much cleaning is left this coming weekend...

There are a few nice suitable projects bikes available out here at the moment.

Got some work done on the bike while waiting for info on a huge job (which is now only happening tomorrow).

Got the trees installed and bearing greased and in.



Rear sprocket on:



Got the front brake disc back from brake shop, painted the inners and will mount it tomorrow.

Also got these cool retro rubber bicycle style grips from a local rubber supplier.
Was very cheap, so I'll give them a try!



Tyres over the weekend and hopefully a rolling chassis by Saturday!

I like the grips Wally, although they look like they could be a little thin? I found with the cheap rubber ones I put on initially, I wore them out in less than 4000km's and they were also very hard on the hands.

Be interesting to see how those ones go for you...
