530 vs 630
I've been told that 630 chains are old technology. I thought 530 vs 630 denoted only a size difference.

Thanks for the info. Besides "O" and "X" rings, are there any other types?1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

630
I like my 630. I didn't realize that buying replacement parts would be a problem. So now I'll have to do extra care to keep the old beast in good shape.

Why does anyone prefer a 630? Heavier, no stronger, more power loss, with no tangible benefit. I converted my 1150 to 530 and can't think of a reason to have stayed with the 630."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It
^^^If a 630 works, why mess with it?
One thing I'm learning is...these bikes have Gremlins. Once you (in general terms) fix one thing, something else comes along and needs attention.
It's a nice upgrade but with the expenses that come along with repairing those Gremlins, I'd rather spend the money on those unique instances.

my opinion shouldn't be taken as gospel or in any way that would lead you to believe otherwise (30Sep2021)
