I actually have these and K&N and switched back to these. After 6 hours of running tests we found that according to the computers you can get by with just raising the needles and using the stock jets without compromising power and fuel economy. I ran 4 sizes up like recommended and was blowing black smoke out of the exhaust.

Any particular reason you want THOSE pods?
There appears to be NO brand identification, so I, for one, would worry about quality.
Virtually all pods will require rejetting, the question is how much.
Why not keep saving until you can afford some GOOD pods or just enjoy the stock airbox and jetting in the meantime.

Radioshack washers, half the original spacer as recommended.
Steve they're the EMGO Pods... and they work well if you create restriction with them. I covered mine with vasoline then sprayed a small amount of carb cleaner on them and lit it on fire for like .25 seconds when it burned itself out. No debris from it and it closed the threads up some to make more restrction.

Sounds real scientific and accurate.
With a technique like that, did you check the jetting for each individual carb?
That would be the only way to make sure it's right.
Besides, the official EMGO instructions say that they don't need any oiling or other treatment on their filters.
Oh, and his bike has VM carbs, they should have adjustable needles.

I dont recommend anyone doing it. I only did it since I paid $25 bucks for them and had spare pods.

Those are the same ones as the original... EMGO pods. A lot of people put them on ebay and dont list a brand.

If you insist on pods (for whatever reason), save your money, then get K&N.
I have heard that APE pods are a reasonable alternative.
None of my bikes have pods, so I can only relate what I see on the board (over and over again).

If you want to run pods you will need to do plug chops on all carb circuits.
Possibly even drill the slides also.
Not rocket science but alot of trial and error.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.
