    LED Replacements anyone?

Has anyone replaced their brake or other lights with LED ones? if so, where did you get them, and how much. The ones I have seen are pricey, but i believe them to have a value in not draining the battery so quickly if caught in stop & go traffic

    thoughts? experience? suggestions?

I use 'em for that very reason. :-D
I'll post a link to where I got 'em. (after I find it, Ebay, lol)

Btw, don't use resistors to make the flasher work, get an electronic flasher
    and mod it.

    *Edit* here you go.

not all LEDs are the same

I bought some LED replacement bulbs in the 1157 style from a vendor off of ebay... couple years ago. But they were DIM. Put them in my goldwing, where the taillight has two bulbs...

Wife repeatedly complained that they were dim.. I blew her off. Two weeks ago I got stopped by an LOE at 10pm on the way home, who stated "did you know your taillights are OUT?" I said, they are on, see? Then stood in front of his headlights... sure enough, they were there.

But, to him (and to me, too, actually) when I hit the brakes, the BRAKE LIGHT was as bright as a normal taillight was... it was only half as bright when no brakes were applied.

He let me off with a verbal, and I went right home and yanked them again, put back incandescents...

So, I'm interested in finding GOOD replacements, but I know I haven't found them yet (without spending big $$ just to find out they aren't any better than what I had.)

I have some just like this in my GS550. They are actually brighter than 1157, and way brighter than a regular LED.

Alright... maybe I'll bite for $12.95. I just know i have two dim ones that would only make decent secondary lights for the back of a multi-light car setup.

all the lights on the back of my bike are led!!
yes wallmart leds are junk you have to shop around to get the good ones.
the one 8 track linked to are good.

the main one I have in the stock socket is a big 30 LED head and is a match for a standard 1157

I have two individual LED in the lower corners that light up dark spots in the corner of the lens

I have a 15 led cluster in the socket that was for the licence plate light, it is now wired as a aux brake light and I cut a round hole in the relector in the lens for it to shine through.

there are three white LED's mounted in the bottom of the tail light lens that light up the licence plate.

the licence plate retaining bolts are led bullet lights.

below the licence plate I have two 8 led flash pods, they flash at a high rate when the brakes are applied

between the brake flash pods there is a two LED cluster that is very bright wired to the brake lights

there is 15 LED amber bulbs in the rear turn signals

surounding the LED bulbs in the turn signals are 15 LED red rings that act as running lights and brake lights, going down the road the turnsignals light up red but when a turn signal is turned on it over rides the red and flashes amber.

and there is a two mini LED cluster bulb in the socket for the park light in the European headlight.

for a total of 132 individual LED's!!!!! (not counting the LED's in the volt meter!)

Well, I just ordered two different sets of LED bulbs from the same vendor that 8track linked me to... so we'll see if they are better... One set is RED, one set is BLUE... although the blue ones are the ones his link went to... I'm wondering if that's a good thing showing thru a RED lens.

The guy also has 14 negative feedbacks in the last month, although he has over 32,000 positive ones... I hope this isn't a roller-coaster ride in the works...

                    Stay tuned.

I also hope I have luck saving on multi-item shipping, as he advertises...

I have a LED brake light Awesome from a safety standpoint (there is NO way you "cannot see my brake light"

I got mine through my local dealer (Parts Unlimited distributor). Just get a GE 1157 equivalant they are pricey @ about $16, but it's the last bulb I will ever buy.

                          Hey guys,

I found a parts unlimited dealer near me. But which bulb / manufacturer did you get?

there is a wide variety of prices.

I replaced the bulbs on the shift position indicator circuit board with LED's
                            for my 1979 GS750.
I got 5 from Radio Shack(before their email to employees) for 1.59 a piece. These were 5MM for 12V system. They work Great, a little dim(could be these old eyes) but do work.

                              LEDs are great

I put LEDs in my instrument cluster and I'm really happy with them. I got them from http://www.autolumination.com/. Pretty cheap, and they have about anything that you want. However, my turn signal indicator only works in one direction now. LEDs only light with the correct polarity and I think that somehow my turn signal indicator reverses polarity depending on which direction you switch it to.
