    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The headers on the bike are immaculate. Not surprising since it only has 25k km under its wheels. However the mufflers have suffered the ravages of 20 years of storage. They look great.... until you get closer and see the ends rusted out, perforations underneath etc, etc, etc.

Unlike most of the folks hereabouts I am not interested in a noisy motorcycle, being a ghof :rolleyes:.

Because the collector from the headers is integral with the muffler it rules out simply replacing the mufflers with something aftermarket, I assume. Since OEM is unobtanium, the next decision is what format to choose. I cannot find an aftermarket 4 into 2 system. If you know of one please let me know.

So the default is going to be 4 into 1, of which there are several out there. But none of the manufacturers seem to be keen on 'fessing up as to how loud the end product will sound. Any input as to a sensible choice for a rider who prefers the stealth option?

And lets not even start to talk about the necessary re-jetting!!;)

Ask the good folks around here for some audio clips. Also note that many manufacturers make both street and competition baffles, and you can often add more fiberglass to quiet down street baffles.

But she's a big in-line four. Don't you want to hear some music up past 6k rpm?

Personally, I DO want to "hear some music", which is why I have a rather quiet 4-into-1 system on my bike, so I can hear the music playing through the speakers in my helmet. :-\\\

Nick, recommendations on what to get might depend on where you are. The fact that you are reporting kilometers under the wheels hints that you are not in the USA, so please elaborate. In fact, please update your profile to show a general location.

Yes, I have a 4-into-1 system, but I have no idea who made it. Many here will fault the MAC heders for their poor chrome quality, but I can tell you that the street baffle sounds good in my son's 650. The header was in poor shape when we got the bike about 12 years ago, it has since been ceramic coated and now looks good. With the street baffle installed, it also sounds good. :encouragement:

Very true, JT. That was when the pipe was just installed. It has since been removed, the engine cleaned and painted, engine and bodywork badges applied, etc., etc.

I am in British Columbia. And prepared to search far and wide. The 'easy' option is to get a Vance and Hines system from Canada's Motorcycle: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/vance-and-hines-street-megaphone-system.html and they do have a spec list for appropriate jet re-jetting sizes.

I too have heard that MAC build quality may be questionable. It is possible to get just mufflers, from Marving: http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gs_750_b/77/picture/marving_marvi_conical_silencers_-_chrome/

I am leaning towards a Motad system; no rejetting needed.
