A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Titanium coated drill bit tip is broke in the hole of the broken bolt ....

A shop 'might' be able to remove it without having to put in a Helicoil.

Tried drilling right beside the other hole with a smaller bit , if I use a 3/32 drill bit for the 2 nd hole ill hit the treads ... would a stainless steel drill bit chew up a titanium coated drill bit ? Calling it a night will start fesh tomorrow trying to get this last bolt out !! 2 out of 3 are done ...

Couldnt go to bed , cuzz this would just eat at me all nite and tomorrow while at work ...
Using very tiny tweezers I managed to get the broken drill bit out !!
Now I think I will go to bed .. rest up and tackle this last broken bolt tomorrow !!!
I have a difficult time walking away from something thats not finnished .. lol

You and me both! 1 A.M and I just finishing up a little project I've been working on. Couldn't stop until it was finalized.

Well I only managed to get 2 of the 3 bolts out , found a guy who will come out to the house and he has all these small grinders etc and will drill out this one bolt from the cylinder head and sais if he cant save the thread he will put in a helicoil .this guy was referred to me from the engine rebuilder in the neiberhood .
All for the low low price of $200

YIKES  $200??? my local machine shop will do it for $40, that is with the head off the bike of course, but $200?? you could buy all the OEM gaskets to do a top end rebuild for that.

This guy comes right out to your house ... therefor you dont have to remove the head , replace gaskets etc ...
Seems fair to me probably 2 hrs of his time his gas etc ..
Welcome to prices in down town toronto !!
I contacted 2 other machine shops and there both $80 an hr and you have to bring just the head in ....

How about putting a SMAW electrode down in the hole centered on the and then flip the switch on for 3~4 seconds? Nothing like a stuck electrode combined with resistance heating to grab and loosen a bolt at the same time.

I have never heard of this procedure to get a broken bolt out of a cylinder head ... sounds very cool !!!!

Neither have I. I just kind of rolled the idea around in my head. Figured if a welding electrode would stick to the metal you were welding on when it touched to the surface, it would stick to the bolt as well.

There is a rod out there that's pretty much self starting, I just can't for the life of me remember the number of it. I THINK it's E7024. I'll look when I get home.

I'd try it if it were my bike that this happened to.
