A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello, I have an 82 gs450tx and have had an issues with it leaking oil, the more I drive the more it leaks. Anyone know where I should start to take care of this or have any ideas for me?

Tell us where it's leaking from and we'll tell you how to fix it.

Haha, yes that would help its towards the bottom of the engine on the right side. Don't really have anymore info then that.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Sorry but my crystal ball is broke.:p

A picture of what is going on and more information about how you found the leak might help. Have you cleaned the engine and really watched what happened after restarting the bike?

No, I have not cleaned it up yet. Did not think that it would help just because I can see where it leaks from.. the bottom of the engine where the two plates come together. (Sorry I don't know what its called) If you think I still should I will, but what else should I look for?

Thanks again.

If you can post up a picture that would help. There's lots of great wrenchers around here that will surely be able to help.

If I understand this right, it sounds like your base gasket is leaking (where the cases meet). Someone else more knowledgeable, like Nessism, will probably speak up here but I would start looking for new gaskets. Make sure you get OEM ones even though they are pricey. They'll last longer than any of the aftermarkets from what I have read (course OEM is all I've bought since getting my bike last year).

@horn Will do, just gonna clean it up and sometime next week ill get one up.

@coyboy Ok, thanks Ive never done any work like that but sounds like this is a very easy bike to work on so hopefully I don't eff it up!

Thanks!

One other question I have is.. how does gasket sealer work? is it worth a shot or no?

Edit: also anyone have a pdf of a repair manual. or step by step for replacing a gasket
