A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Greetings Everyone,

I'm located in Los Angeles California and just donated one almost complete 1983 GS750E (with keys and California title) and a basket case 1985 GS700ES to a local used mororcycle parts shop in North Hollywood, CA. The 83 GS750E has very clean like-new bodywork and gas tank and is about 95% complete (wiring, mounting rubber, nuts, bolts, fasteners, etc.).
I was going to rebuild it after a front end crash many years ago (crash on a spare frame at the time). The original good frame was straightened by Dr. John's Motorcycle Frame Straightening in Anaheim. The frame was already good I just wanted it to be perfect before I began the transformation into a cafe racer.

The 84-85 GS700 GS was a parts donor bike to be used for the rebuild. It has matching frame and engine cases and many good electrical, engine, and chassis parts.

Anyhow I am moving and no longer have the space to store all my project bike stuff and doubt that I wil ever get around to completing my dream project.
The reason for this post is that the motorcycle shop owner told me yesterday that he almost never gets calls for this kind of old motorcycle and most of the parts will most likely end up in the dumpster. I would be really broken hearted to see all these hard to find parts just disappear.

So if anyone reading this know of anyone who is building or wants to build a 1893 GS750E/ES please PM me and I'll give the name of the shop as I'm not sure if that is allowed in a post. I am not affiliated to the shop in any way other than the fact that I have been a customer of theirs for many years and they have helped me out many times. I think the bikes can be had for next to nothing as the owner said he didn't really want the bikes and was doing me a favor by taking them.

If this post is in the wrong place please let me know and Moderator please move it or let me know and I'll delete it and repost in the proper place.

Keep the Rubber Side Down,

Thanks for the heads-up Dave. Was there an airbox for the GS700ES?

@glib
Yes, as of today there is the stock airbox along with 2 sets of carbs.

I took some more parts over today and saw that the 83 GS750E frame was already sent to the scrap iron pile. What a waste. The frame/swingarm was straight and in excellent condition. Just needed some paint.

Note that the 83 GS750E/ES and 84-85 GS700ES are just about identical with the exception of the stroke and so the crankshaft is different between the two.
Just about everything else is interchangable.

Let me know if you need any more info.

It's a bit of a long shot but I was contacted by someone who wanted to buy my 700 but only if it had the original airbox. I messaged him that I have located one but we'll see if he gets back to me. Thank you.
