A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

2006 R1 swingar kat project

My laser was off so when I recalibrated it there was a problem. I fixed it with the 520 chain and taking 2mm off the sprocket carrier and moved the swing over 1mm. I now have the R1 chain runner on and as the pics show the chain line is straight up to the front sprocket.
you can see the laser dot running up the center of the chain guide.

I was getting prepared for a frame notching session but that won't e necessary. The lower peg stay mount was very much in the way as well and had to be cut down to get it out of the way of the chain return. Of course moving the swing over even that 1mm causes me grief with the rear brake pivot assembly.

I also checked with a straight bar running from the rear sprocket to the front. Adjusted the laser for the diff in offset and ran it again straight up the strait edge which is 1/8". I also used the straight edge to check chain height. The edge is aligned with the bottom of the chain rollers to see if there is an interference with the runner. The r1 runner is about 10mm off the swingarm on an arc. in the unloaded position there is a few thou of air.

Did some detail work today, mounted bat box, under seat plate and attached a couple things to bat box.

ON the right side of the new bat box lives the signal control module, on the left side lives the new starter solenoid home. (see pics)

Something that has always bugged me is the whole that is left when the air box is removed on the right side. That is the right side panel is out in mid air... so I fabbed a plate to hide the sigmodule and finish off the side cover. the left side is ok cuz the cover isn't open like the right (see pic)

I have angled the under pan down to pick up some air flow to cool the R/R by drawing air up under the seat. just above it in the crappy pic is the rear brake reservoir (ducati)

I have some 4-6" extensions for this arm but I think I am going to make some smaller cuz I won't be using that much stretch. Here is a photoshop of what I am going to do. I will be welding them on so the twisties won't make me too nervous.

Here is the stretch I think I will be after.

I prefer the look "unstretched" but then all stretched bikes look a little odd to me... Is it to give more straight line stability or??

Dan :)

Yeh Dan, This bad boy is go-in to be long and lean.......sure it won't handle like a super bike but nothin this old will so keeping up with the new boys in th e corners isn't a concern. Not that anyone can ride any of these bikes to their potential anyway. I know guys who could kick most guys buts on their gsxr 1000's with a stretched 600.
Stretchin ain't for everyone, and I can appreciate that.

I machined the rear '06 gsxr 1000 hanger. Had to take off over 10mm but not finished yet. Have to shorten the tongue on the hanger and fab a new adjuster block to receive it. No biggie....

Since I decided to keep the stock peg stays.. I had to do something with the rear master. Never liked the rear res and rubber hose thing, so,

anodized fittings are in order with s/s hose. Requires a new reservoir with threaded fitting. I am hiding it up behind that new plate I made that is already hiding the signal controler. It's coming in handy.

The fittings in the pics are a little large but is all I had on hand. Will be knocking them down a dash or two.
