    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what can cause that? my headlight goes out so dose my tail light... what can cause that?

low voltage, causing them to pull higher amps, aka HEAT. You probably have a poor ground or connection somewhere. I would start by checking the voltage to both bulbs and seeing what you've got compared to voltage across your battery terminals.

My 'S was doing that and I found that the r/r was not grounded directly to the negative of the batteryConnect him up and problem solved.Cheers,Simon.:)

High voltage, not low will push too many amps through the bulbs,
R/R not working correctly or more likely just a bad ground or wire connection someplace.

same as clone got a new at elctrosport problem solved $96.00 +or- a couple bucks

Thank You guys, I will start with checking the ground...
I'm a newby to these bikes.... so whats R/R?

It's your Rectifier/Regulator.It should have a ground wire coming from it to your frame. If so,connect it to your battery negative instead.Cheers,Simon.:)

I had the same problem a few years back. I went through ALL of the wires and anything that I could I soldered. I was still blowing headlights. It's a freaky feeling riding home at night on your turn signals. Then I replaced the pigtail and that seemed to fix the issue. Out of paranoia I also changed it from that big 9in? bulb to the conversion kit which takes the small H10? bulb. Those are a lot easier to carry spares of. I picked up the conversion kit off of Ebay at Rice Paddy Motors in Columbus, Oh. It has worked like a charm so far and I haven't replaced a bulb yet. Been 2 yrs. Good Luck. Electrical demons seem to be the hardest to excorcise.

Greetings and Salutations!!

Hi Mr. Yura,

Did you get your carb hoses straightened out?

I encourage you to clean every electrical connection, ground connection, fusebox, etc in your entire wiring harness from the headlight bucket to the tail light. Go through the Stator Papers to test your charging system. Check out the links below, read all the related material so that you gain a knowledgeable overview of your motorcycle's systems and possible issues. You have a 30 year old bike and there are probably a lot of little things that need attention. Download a manual from my site. Get back to us when you have a question.

I do believe I have NOT given you the "official" unofficial mega-welcome. So let me roll out the welcome mat for you...

Please click here for your mega-welcome, chock full of tips, suggestions, links to vendors, and other information. Then feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website where I've been collecting the wisdom of this generous community. Don't forget, we like pictures! Not you, your bike! :D

Thanks for joining us. Keep us informed.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
