    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello to all. this is my first post here. I have recently started up my gs after about 3 yrs of sitting. As is typical I removed and cleaned the carbs, for the first time i removed the whole airbox and battery box, because I wanted to be sure I was able to install the boots properly. The problem I have is that on the battery box rh side just above the 4 fuse box there is a single fuse box that I now have only one wire going to it, I cant remember or find where another wire came from or goes to. The issue that I now have with the bike is that its not charging and I suspect that the missing wire is the cause. Does anyone know where I should be looking for this wire. I appreciate any info or help.
 
First, welcome.

I believe that is your accessory fuse box. It won't have another wire coming from it unless you hook something up to it. On my bike that feeds my coil relay; and only for the last few weeks since I made that mod.

Has your battery also been sitting for 3 years? It's unlikely that it's any good. You can have it charged (no more than 2A!). Verifying a good battery is the first step in diagnosing charging issues as I have myself recently experienced. Get the battery charged, then follow this:

Replace the battery if necessary. A bad battery won't charge, even if it does have the current to turn over your motor.

If you're having issues, run through the full stator tests.

What are our choices? Is the wire red? Is there voltage on the wire when the bike is running? About all I can offer you at this time is a lot of documentation for your bike, wiring diagram, service manual, etc.
