Greetings! I am the proud owner of a 1980 GS550L. I recently had the carbs rebuilt. Most of the time the bike runs better than I expected for a bike of this age. however, I can't ever get it to idle without the choke or babying the throttle to keep it running. I have adjusted the throttle stop until it idles, but then when giving it throttle it doesn't idle back down right away (it stays reved for a second before going back down to idle.) Right now when it is running at normal temp it will idle OK for about 3 seconds then slowly drops down until it dies.
I'm thinking I may need to replace the petcock diaphram and o-ring, but haven't found any kits for the 1980. Also, my mechanic may have tuned the carbs when the petcock was set to prime instead of run... Any ideas?
