If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi folks.

Kinda in a bind and need help from an 81 GS650 (or close) owner.

bike is an 81 GS 650E NON TSCC.

I'm finishing a customer's 650, but he's got an aftermarket sig generator that has white/black/red wires. I want to be SURE to match them up properly before I wire them into the harness. (don't want to fry it)

I'm looking on the manual at the pic of the sig generator, but it's black and white, so I can't see exactly which color wire is coming from where.

Can anyone take a close-up photo of their signal generator for me? From a lower angle looking up would be best. Hopefully one of you already has your cover off or maybe has a few minutes to take it off and hook me up. If you don't have access to photo, simply telling me which wire comes from where (eg, brown comes from right side, g/w and b/w come from left) This is the only thing stopping me from pressing that start button and as some of you know, it's been a long time coming.

Take care,

Well, I don't have a cover off, but looking in my book, the black/white wire appears to be the common wire.

I just looked at the 650 in the garage. The case guards appear to be far enough away from the cover to allow cover removal without guard removal, so I will try that and update you.

OK, update time. 8-[

I looked at the book again and see that the diagrams are different for your '81 E and my '82 L. Hope the following information helps some.

This is stock ignition on an '82 650L. Removing the cover, I see RED and BLUE wires going to the left trigger (1&4) and RED and GREEN wires going to the right trigger (2&3). There is also a GREEN wire going to the oil pressure sensor below the ignition plate.

Since you are dealing with an aftermarket system, I hope you can translate these colors to your advantage.

Do you realize just how hard it is to get a good, sharp close-up picture in low light without the flash overpowering everything?

Also, just another perspective...after examining a couple of these myself...I too have the red blue green wires in my 750...What confused me was on the other end of the wires...no red comes out...only the blue and green. Leading me and a buddy to think the red actually only goes between the two triggers.
