So Thursday morning I left around 8:30am with a 33*F temp out. That was icky. Went from the middle of Wisconsin to Springfield, IL. Average highway speed was 70-75 and I got 65mpg on average. With stops every 125-140 miles for gas it took me 8.5 hours. The little 300 won't go over 80, lol. Except for being a bit cold, my mp3 player dying 5 miles from home on the way out and getting stuck in the dark with only a tinted faceshield, it was a great time.
I wasn't too sure if doing so much hwy speeds with a small motor would be bad or not, but it ran just fine. Although next time I want something a bit bigger, both engine and fuel tank, and maybe more windscreen in front of me
