Is it possible to change the final drive seal without splitting the case? I have been reading threads for 2 hours and some say yes and some say no. Thanks Aaron

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Never attempted it myself, but I dont think it is possible to do so without splitting the cases. Why? There is the C-ring seal retainer (item #41 in picture) embedded in a groove in the case whose sole purpose is to prevent the seal from popping out. I guess you could mangle the C-ring retainer to get it out but I don't see how you could get one back in. I suppose you could go without it but I figure the Suzuki engineers put it there for a reason so I don't think that I would go without it.
Crank seal behind the ignition, yes. Shift shaft seal, yes. Clutch cover puller shaft seal, yes. Trans output shaft seal, NO. You HAVE to split the cases. The GOOD thing is that splitting the cases does NOT require taking the top end of the motor apart. Remove the stator cover, the ENTIRE clutch basket assembly, the 2 plates behind the clutch hub with the Phillips head countersink bolts, all the cases half bolts top & bottom, split the cases & change the trans seal. Thank you for your answers. I still need to pull the cover off and see exactly what is leaking. Reading the manual is very vague to this seal.

Oh? So you don't really know if its the countershaft seal or not. Hey, maybe you'll get lucky and it will be the gear indicator sensor that's leaking. That's an easy fix as it's just a simple o-ring under the sensor. Or it could be the shift shaft seal. It's a cup seal and a little tougher to do than the gear indicator sensor but definitely way easier than the countershaft seal.
