Hi,
I wondered if anyone could shed some light on a few subjects. I recently purchased the '82 GS1100GK that was for sale near St. Louis. The bags and fairing were removed, so it looks like a standard G model, except for the seat. I would like to install a standard G model seat, but I have no clue if the pan is correct. My seat slides on from the rear and latches on the rear with a key in the rear cowl.
If a standard G model seat won't fit, would the tank, seat, and related parts from a E or ES model fit my GK frame?
I'm also interested in lowering this bike since I'm only 5'7" and I'm on my tippie toes as it is. I know that I need to use some handle bar risers to raise the handle bars on the front and slide the forks up in the triple clamp, but do I just run a shorter shock on the rear to lower it? If so, does anyone know shocks from a different bike that would work to lower the rear?
