    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

94 and counting.

I have just sent out valve adjust spreadsheet #94. Apparently enough of you are curious enough to try it at least once, I have only had a couple respond to say that they liked it.

What say the rest of ye?

Who is going to step up and be #100? :-s
No special prize, just bragging rights. 8-[

Just for the sake of interest, current users reside in:
Australia
Belgium
England
Luxembourg
New Zealand
South Africa.
and, of course, a few in the USA 8-[
and one that says he's "constantly roaming", but I don't know his geographical limits.

i havent sent any feedback back because i havent used it yet. but, im excited to use it!

What is this V.A.S.S. you speak of? I don't need to be 100, I'm happy to be #95 though:). Perhaps this is the tool I need to attempt this important maintenance myself?

The Valve Adjust Spreadsheet is a little program I have worked up in Micro$oft Excel that will help you do the math converting inches to millimeters and it also keeps track of the shims that you have installed, which will help you decide what you can move around and what you need to buy to get your valves adjusted properly. It also has a page for tracking general maintenance that you do to/for your bike. You still need a good manual (Suzuki, Haynes or Clymer) and it is also helpful to look at the tutorial on BassCliff's website.
Oh, and it's really only useful if you have an 8-valve engine that uses shims. The 16-valve engines use threaded adjusters with locknuts and are rather straight-forward.

To get your copy, send me an e-mail (not a PM) with "valve adjust spreadsheet" in the subject line. I will reply with the spreadsheet as an attachment.

All I ask in return for the spreadsheet is a little info for my user's profile:
Your name
Your GSR username
Your bike
What little corner of the world you call "home" (note that it can be as generic as my location which is "southwest oHIo")

By the way, would you settle for being #96? That's good, because I just sent out #95. 8-[
