Might be a stupid question, but where does the breather tube on the top of the air chamber go to on an '82 650L? Couldn't find it in the pdf manual I have or searching the forums. I suppose it is very simple, but I am used to VMs on my old two strokes. Trying to cure high idle after running bike for a while. Found that the bike does not have any breather tube there, and thought it may be a good idea to have one! Parts diagrams looks like 11mm but don't care to spend $30 with shipping, hope to find some 7/16 locally. Thanks in advance for any help

You mean the breather tube that goes from the airbox to the engine??? It goes from the nipple on the airbox to the very top cover on the top center of the engine. smaller sub cover on top of the cam cover directly below the center frame tube,,facing to the rear of the bike.

Thanks, I am starting to loathe CV carbs, WAY too many hoses for this amateur! Will update after trying this.

Before I light the bike on fire, suggestions for tubing? Don't know if heater hose would take it, may be why OEM is >$25?

Because its a roll about 8 ft long or so..way more than you need. its nothing special..just like thin walled vacuum hose will work long as it goes over the nipples. theres no pressure to the hose..just a link between the breather and the airbox so blowby gasses get recyclaed.

Thanks, wasn't sure if the temp would melt it. I'll give it a go, appreciate the help.

Measure the HOLE in the top breather cover...get that size. Get 2 ft so if you don't like the first you've got extra to redo with. Dab of oil on the nipples helps it slide on easier too.

Used heater hose, fit just fine and no heat issues as you said. Idle is better, but not quite there yet. Still finding issues from previous owner, but getting better all the time. Thanks again for the advice.
