DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ordered some new orings for my intake boots and Im pretty sure they have never been replaced because I had a heck of a time removing them and one of them just snapped. Had to file it down, remove the intake boot then drill and retap. ARGGG.

The intake boots look good and the rubber isnt damaged or cracked. Do you guys usually reuse them or should they be replaced. They are pretty pricy. 20170730_151428.jpg

hmm that can be drilled with patience........
I would nt buy new unless i had to
replaced airbox side a while back due to inflexibility and considerable shrinkage but head side is airtight though faded and old.

id have left the boot in place and used a suitable pipe as a sheath over my bit inserting it into the boots hole
got an after pic? any damage?

The after pic is a mess. Almost wasnt able to drill a new hole. I set my drill too high and my hole started going left. Had to put the boot back on and slowly guide it thru. Its not pretty once the boot is off but i was able to tap an new hole. Im gonna use some sort of sealant around that boot just to make sure shes air tight when re installing. Any suggestions? Not sure silicone is a good idea.

I had the same problem when I removed my old pipes. 4 of the 8 engine mount bolts broke off. Had to retap. Darn old bikes. I just cant stop tho. Hahaha. Im addicted to maker her right.

Oh man, never thought of using a pipe. Thats genious.

in fute heat cycle to shock the corrosion
mapp gas for a short burst the hit it with an inverted can of camera compressed air
it goes fron a high to low rapidly and can work wonders

Sorry, what? Lol

high heat with torch then rapid cooling easiest way is to use an inverted can of air such as that for cmaera lenses the propellant rapidly evaporates and freezes what it hits

great for plantar faciitis too. gtta use a lot of caution there though.

Should I put some kind of metal to metal high temp sealant when reinstalling the intake boots?

Just a tip in case you don't know but about 90% of the broken off bolts I have delt with I was able to take out pretty easy by simply welding a nut to it. I have done it in aluminum and steel and about half were broken off below the surface about 1/8". Just turn Mig up really hot and put several tacks on top of the bolt until it is above the surface then weld the nut on top. Then just work it back and forth about 100 times and out she goes. The weld wont stick to aluminum so it works really good for that.

I don't own any welding tools. Might be time to invest. Any suggestions ?
