A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Another Strinking Petcock Question...

Alright, I am going insane here. It's 2am and I can't sleep because my garage is filled with gas that dripped out of my bike.

My bike had a slow leak, similar to what others were talking about....you know, gas dripping from the air-box. After reading what everone has said, I thought there was a good chance that the petcock needed to be rebuilt. So, that is exactly what I did. Unfortunatly, after I rebuilt it, I appear to have made it worse. It' drips twice as fast as before!! The only thing I noticed is that it seems to drip faster when on the kickstand as opposed to the center stand.

Is it possilbe that it isn't the "diaphram" side that is having the problem by the spigot part that is not seated properly?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
BCOT.

I have on that does the same thing. Just before I left for the Texas Hill Country ride my 81GS750 started leaking past the petcock. I took it apart and the diaphragm seem to be ok it was just that the valve stem didn't seem to seat the o-ring to stop the flow of gas. I tried stretching out the spring to get the valve to seat but it didn't work so I put am in-line valve in series with it.

I have another petcock now and will install it after I clean out the tank.

id like to find a non vaccum petcock with reserve to replace the vacuum petcock with no reserve that I have now(I have fuel gauge, guess they didn't think you needed reserve with a fuel gauge?!?!?) .

YEP YEP YEPINGEL

SMOOTH AS BUTTER AND CAN BE PURCHASED WITH OR WITHOUT A RESERVE. I LIKE THE RESERVE JUST IN CASE MY FUEL GUAGE FAILS. I THINK THE PRICE IS THE SAME--NOT SURE THOUGH.
I hit the caps lock again. Its a bad habbit of mine
