I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Anyone has used the electrex voltage regulator ?

Would like to hear comments about it?

I'm planning on buying one for my '81 GS1100EX

Alot of members have used them with good results, I was cheap and used one from a Honda

Re: Anyone used the Electrex regulator

I have Electrex regulator/rectifiers on my 750 and 1150. I couldnt be happier with both of them. Best money I ever spent. :-)

I've had an Electrex on my '83 for several years and have no complaints.

Here Here !! Roger that. All of it. Electrex on my 79 GS750. Works incredible. Also running Dyna Ignition. No Probs.

I, too, have the Electrex R/R (more as a preventive measure than anything else). I also put in Accel 3 ohm coils and the Dyna III ignition. The combination improved the heck out of my bike. The coil instruction did mention a possible need to go up a jet size due to the better spark.

As always  Earl speaks nothing but the truth.
I have both the Electrex R/R and the Electrex stator.
Easily one of the best investments I made in my bike, besides buying it in the first place.

Electrex stator and RR on both of my GS's. I don't like bump starting.

Great to hear all the good stuff about Electrix R/R I just ordered one yesterday. If you are in Canada the Electex depot is in Alberta the e-mail on the link site was wrong it should be electrex@efirehose.net and the # is 1-866-999-4377. I let them know that the e-mail was wrong they may have fixed it by now. :D

Will the Dyna III work on an 83 GS850G that already has an electronic ignition or is it not necessary?

Should be recieving Electrix stator this week, and will be checking it all out again. Probably will order the R/R anyway just to make 100% sure all is well.

NOT fun being 6 months off the bike!

Definitely get the R/R. It is actually more important to replace than the stator. It would be a shame to have that old R/R burn out your new stator.

I must have the only bad experience...mine died at 14 months old. 2 months past warranty, and I had to cut down a couple of cooling fins to make it fit (though I don't think it degraded cooling a bit).

Next time, I am retrofitting the Honda version! Much cheaper than the $100+ I spent on it!

What, exactly, is the honda version?
I've heard mention made of using the R/R from the honda SuperDream but those are hard to come by (I've tried/searched).

Is there some other "Honda" Regulator/rectifier that can be used??

electrex failure

electrex failure

well, my electrex R/R failed after 2 weeks taking the ststor with it. sent unit back to electrex. waiting for warrenty reply. will let you'all know what outcome is. :?:

my electrex R/R died.... or fried , it was always running hot.... to the touch , but the electrex tech guys says it was correct, even if some of the silicone dripped.....after 5 or 6 months ( i got the stator as well at that time) and they sent me another R/R under warranty.... which died 2 years later, a few weeks ago.... after like 4,000 miles... i put the old OEM unit.. and it has been working well.....
