    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just got back form the local bike dealer and boy was that interesting. I have a 1150ES and it requires the battery with the sensor. I was in for sticker shock...the sensor battery was 110 and the battery without was 40. Can the sensor be disarmed much like a kick stand by looping the signal so the idiot light will go out..any help on this would be appreciated. My next question is tire sizes. I couldn`t believe that this bike came with a 130 rear....What can I get away with in a larger size without having chain/wheel and swingarm problems? I plan on using a metzler...not sure which one yet. Reason for that is it came with a new metz on the front. Thanks again!!!!!
 
You can get a normal battery, unplug the sensor from the harness, and remove the light bulb from the instrument cluster............$70 bucks saved.
Check the clearence on the right side between the tire and the rear caliper support arm, you can squeeze a 140 in sometimes depending on the brand, but this is the maximum the stock rim will take and on 1100's the caliper support arm has to be bent to accomidate this, not sure about the 1150. Anyhow it is a real pain just to put on a tire that is 1 cm bigger.

A couple of years ago my 1100 needed a battery and my local shop quoted me $104.00... EEEK! I then went to Sears and they had to special order a Yuasa battery with the sensor for $65.00, (that's more like it). Bike shops will really stick it to you on some items.
 
Bike shops will stick you with practically EVERYTHING! I did get a good deal a couple weeks ago at the local Honda shop hangout, Nelson-Riggs sport saddlebags for my Kawasaki for $80! These go for about $125 on the net without shipping!
 
I bought a riding jacket with an adjustable waist band, No extra charge. :-) :-) :-)

140 / 80 Metronic (ME55A) works fine! Solo
 
$110 for a battery. WOW. Hell a new one for the VALK from the stealer didnt cost me that much.
 
But Jay, you get a really nice receipt with it and your choice of valve lapping compound or KY. :-) :-)

chris, Ill check as soon as I get out to the garage its pouring right now. I unplugged the sensor and I didn't removed the the bulb I think i did somthing different, that was 10 years ago. My battery light still comes on when I turn the key but goes out when I start the bike. I have bought two walmart batteries since then for about thirty ea. and they worked fine.
You can run a 140 on the back I have used a metzler ME55 and now have the ME 99. I have used larger tires in the front and back but like the stock tire size best for handling. the larger sizes slows your handling and gives the bike a slightly heavier feel.
