All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a problem that my wingmirrors bend backon themselves when I get any speed up. The top end of the mirror bends towards me. I've added a picture here --> http://www.geocities.com/jogsbmw320i/mirror.jpg

Is there any way that I could stop the mirror bending backwards? The dealeres are wanting to charge the earth for a new set.
Thanks.

Chewing gum? :D If it's a ball-in-socket type I think you may be out of luck, but someone will surely know a trick we can't think of.

thinking what crag said..

if you used some J.B. weld, and then sprayed it black so nobody would notice, it shouldnt move.

Mirrors are cheap from Dennis Kirk. Bar end mirrors are worlds better than our stockers anyway...

HiSPL, I'm in South Africa........ things are a LOT more expensive than in the US.
Thanks though

Oooohhh!

That makes a big difference then. Does S.A. have eBay? There's always replacement parts there....

I had the same problem, yet I was out on the road. At a stop light, just for kicks and giggles, I rotated the mirror - as if screwing it in tighter. Not the shaft or rod, the actually glass itself. I rotated the mirror part. Made absolutely NO sense to me, but it tightened up and that was about a month ago. Still tight. ????

I never did take the rubber off to see what kind of joint it is. Give it a shot.

If it IS a ball and joint - and nothing to tighten, only choices would be to replace or use adhesive. However, with the latter - you would lose your adjustability. :?

We do have ebay....... problem THERE is that South African ebay ends up being US ebay, so we pay dollars for ebay ANYWAY :(
Damn the 1960's governaments I say! They are the cause of my financial woes :(
Kinda between a rock and a hard place. I think I'll go with the fake weld stuff (you know, that putty that you squash together, and you get super strong joining stuff)
Thanks for the replies..
