Best place to buy clutch?

I've got an 84 GS750E that is slipping if you try and run it past 5k. While this is doing a great job of keeping me out of trouble with the local enforcement, its not making rides very fun.

BikeBandit lists clutch parts for an 83 GS750ED,SD,or ESD, but theres no GS750 listed under 1984 on their site. Will any of the 83 750's work?

Or, do you guys recommend a better (priced) source for clutch parts for an 84 GS750E?

Before you buy anything...measure the discs and see if they are in spec.
Also measure your clutch springs...
Odds are you clutch is slipping because the springs are tired or you have the wrong oil...
The discs would be the last thing I would suspect.

Feel free to browse any of the other sources mentioned in BassCliff's Welcome page, with the exception of Alpha Sports. Alpha has a nice interface that loads quickly, but charges about "retail plus 10%". Bike Bandit is second in pricing, occasionally dipping below retail. Virtually all of the others are 10-30% below retail.

I agree with Baatfam, your culprit is likely the springs. If it's a stock bike, just get stock, OEM springs. Will cost you about $20 or so. Only if you have built up a drag bike should you need heavier springs.

Ya, I haven't opened it up yet to check and see exactly what is worn, I'm just trying to plan for worst possible scenario right now. Make sure I have the $$ handy if it turns out the plates are shot and I need to get them too.

Springs are just $4 apiece from dealer, and gasket $14. I'll maybe get them coming to start with anyway, I'll need them no matter what.

I've had tuckered out springs on another bike and never had it slip like this, granted that particular one was a lower hp machine.

Can anyone comment on interchangability for the differnt 83 and 84 GS750's?
