Howsabout some history on the bike?
Have you cleaned the carbs?
From what I gather from your post someone has converted the petcock(fuel valve) to gavity feed, correct? If so you might be advised to somehow clamp off/turn off flow of fuel. If not the carbs will leak.
Not sure how to tell you this, but gas is never vacuumed out of the tank, it is ALWAYS gravity-fed.Well i went to Sync them yesterday and now that the carbs where being gravity fed and not vacuum for the tank I noticed gas coming out of the over flow.
Yes, you have BS32SS carbs. So Just for my knowledge I have BS32 carbs? another thing Id like to figure out. My bike is an 81 GS850L... does that also may it an 850GL and/or 850GLX?
Question: how high was your feed? If it was higher than the stock fuel tank level, you will have more pressure at the carbs, which could easily overwhelm the float valves, even if they are working perfectly.Like I said this was while I was syncing the carbs, so the tank was off and I was running a funnel I.V. drip for my fuel source and that is why it is gravity feed.
Did you do the full "strip-and-dip" cleaning, along with replacing all the o-rings? If you didn't, any further suggestions are useless.I cleaned the carbs when i first got the bike about 6 weeks ago to get it running.
My fuel feed was replicated like Cliff's Image on his walk-through

By float valves, he means the needle and seat. And he means they could leak if the top level of the fuel in your temp tank was higher than the top level of your fuel tank.Question: how high was your feed? If it was higher than the stock fuel tank level, you will have more pressure at the carbs, which could easily overwhelm the float valves, even if they are working perfectly.
