DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

breather hose rerouting

I have an 83 gs750e that I am putting k&n pod filters on in place of the stock airbox. Their is a breather hose that runs from the valve cover into the top of the airbox. Their is also a drainage hose to allow accumulated fuel to flow out the bottom of the airbox. My question is what to do with this breather hose. My first thought was to route it out where the old drainage hose ended (out the bottom of the bike). My main concern with this approach was vacuum - do I need to keep a vacuum on the breather hose, and if so, how do I get that vacuum without the airbox? So I difer to the experts, anyone done this before or know what is the correct way to deal with the breather hose? Thanks Adam<><

you put a filter on it also, K&N sells a small crankcase filter that you connect to the crankcase breather hose.
A vacuum is not necessary,(although it would help) the filter will prevent any dirt from getting drawn back in through the hose, and also keeps bugs out.

it was routed into the factory air box for emissions reasons, instead of venting the crankcase fumes to the atmosphere, they routed it to the air cleaner where it was drawn into the engine and burned.

I routed mine back to where the old air box was with a filter attached just as focus suggested on my '83 GS750es.

On my 1100, the previous owner just left it there with nothing on it. That didn't seem like a good idea, so I put one of those $5 red breather filters that they sell for import cars (hey, its somewhat the same color as the bike) on.
