A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone have any experience with a reputable shop that either specializes
in GS1100 4V engines or has a vast knowledge of them? I want the
motor in my 83 1100e redone, basically stock but with upgraded internals
like J&E pistons (stock compression, maybe +.5 point), stainless valves,
welded clutch hub, trued & welded crank. No cylinder boring or re-honing
as I've got a correct brand new NOS block w/ liners to install also.
Thanks for any leads, I'm interested more in skill and experience than
a hack who does it cheaply but incorrectly.

We can perform all of the services you mentioned, but we do not assemble the engines. The Pistons would be customs. What is a "new NOS block w/liners"

Check out the website in my signature.

re: NOS block w/ liners

Here's the breakdown:

NOS: New Old Stock. NOS refers to a new part, possibly made years ago
that has been sitting on a dealer's shelf or in a distribution warehouse for
a long time. NOS parts the best bet for factory replacements that are no
longer in production.

Block: this is the large finned aluminum casting that contains the
"cylinders", or sleeves. It is mounted on top of the engine cases.
It is usually considered a major component of any engine, automotive
or motorcycle.

Liners: Also known as cylinders, these are pressed steel sleeves
that reside in the aforementioned "block". Pistons reside inside
these "cylinders" which ultimately provide the motive power to
the entire enterprise.

Know what the block and liners are. We probably sell more of those than anyone. It was the NOS part that threw me.

If you are going to the trouble to rebuild this motor, I would suggest that you install a set of Wiseco 1168 pistons. These pistons and the rebore ($95.00) would be less money than a custom set of JE pistons and the increase low and mid range torque would add to your riding pleasure.
